Tablet Recommendations

Does anyone have any tablet (wifi capable) recommendations? Looking for a good company like Mudita or Punkt that do a tablet, and source production outside of China. Want a tablet for those times I want to tether or use wifi in a public space, but wanted it portable (not a laptop). Basically a good ipad alternative…

@joel This is A GREAT question & I have been wondering this myself. I currently have an 9 year old Samsung Tablet that is pretty much on its way out & I am also looking for a more “conscious” alternative.
