How can I increase the chime volume for SMS receipts?

I don’t have an answer for you, sorry. This thread caught me off guard though, I’ve had my Kompakt almost 3 weeks now and I have thought this whole time that notification sounds were incredibly loud. I’ve been physically startled at least two or three times now after recieving a text and having the phone in my hand or laying in bed next to me!

OK good to know, that’s interesting, I checked “Notification” sounds and none of them make a sound, mine makes not a peep, not a chime, it vibrates very very faintly.
Based on what you said, @bodhicitta, I restarted the phone and now notification sounds work - I got a text, yes, it’s good and loud, like magic, the phone wants me to chill. No worries - disregard my question, problem solved.

Good to hear. I’m really trying to love it but it’s challenging at times. It’s a buggy little device but when it’s working as intended, it’s great. I was just fighting with my Bluetooth for like 2 hours because it started rapidly turning on and off, wasn’t functional at all, and was draining my battery on top of it. I’ve had to tinker and fight with this phone more than with any other I’ve owned.
Sure feels nice being off social media and being able to go out without carrying a battery pack with me though.

Interesting to hear your are having issues, I had a few niggles along the way, it can be challenging at times, I learned early on that I needed to change my expectations of the phone and also to revaluate what I really need from one.
What issues have you had.

I’m not saying I dislike the Kompakt. I’m having a good time with it and it’s mostly fine. I expected some turbulence along the way but there are a few
Here are a few bugs, gripes, and annoyance:
- Some calls and texts not going through or being received. It’s not a ton but it has happened more then once one the last 3 weeks
- I can’t seem to keep accessibility permission set despite having disabled battery saving features, duraspeed, and the other typical culprits. Im having to go in and allow permission for several apps most days.
- The stock phone app is a nightmare. Now I’m using fossify phone. I’m not sure if everyone has this issue but the stock phone never presented an answer or decline UI when it rang so I’d have to get the phone out of my pocket, get unlocked, and click the phone icon in the task bar, then accept. The proximity sensor can be a pain to during the whole process or when trying to dial while on the phone.
- Hidden settings and weird design choices as a whole. I’m sure they had a reason for hiding the high contrast setting but I haven’t figured it out yet.
- Pocket dialing. My third day with the phone I accidentally called emergency services 4 times! My solution has been to make the emergency number an unrelated number but I’m still calling random contacts occasionally.
- Standard quality of life features missing. Why do I have specialized apps on my phone for closing down running apps? Why cant I attach a photo to a message from the SMS app?
That’s what comes to mind immediately. Again, not trying to bash. It has been an overall decent experience. There’s just some little things that I don’t understand design wise.

Its hard for me to understand why a device that should free me from technology wouldn’t just come ready to use?
It’s more of a tinker toy than a tool?
I upgraded from a non internet capable Jitterbug Flip-2 phone, and it worked, never needed alterations, $39.00 new.

Yes, you can if you don’t type a message, the icon on the left in the text area opens the album, at least mine does

I had some issues with missed calls and messages giving an audible alert but not providing any information who called or messaged, also had some battery drain problems. On the whole getting used to the quirks of the set up have been easy enough. I installed the launcher Inkos and that has improved most of the things I didnt like about the way the stock launcher works, although I do prefer the look of the Mudita launcher. The main thing that I didnt like, was there is no quick way to close open apps, I installed appkiller from the Aurora store to address this. I still like the MK it has taken my attention away from the phone screen to other pursuits, and also given me some privacy again, which is exactly why I got it.

Dear @Urszula, yes, that’s the setting however, for some reason, SMS notifications were not making sound, after I restarted the phone then SMS notifications worked. I just recently got the device so I maybe ask some dumb questions. I applied all of the updates and probably just needed to restart the phone after the updates.

I have the same issue. Sometimes texts just stop giving audible notifcations for unknown reasons (stock SMS app). A reboot fixes it, the slider in the volume settings doesn’t.

Darn it! I cannot use this unreliable Kompakt for the usage I intended it for, which is requests for my curbside business. I need a reliable notification when people try to contact me they are waiting out in their car, I cannot miss their text messages. So I am starting to realize this is just such a crummy plastic phone, it’s not a mature product, and I know enough after a week of having it that I cannot rely on the thing as it is. So far this device is not living up to it’s advertised value, I think most of the price of the phone may be going to advertising, they do have nice ads, really.
I like it’s size and the Mudita phone works for talking better the the Jitterbug Flip2 but I cannot use it for SMS the way it is.
Thanks for letting me know @anon43857326, knowing that I am not the only one with the problem, I am taking out my business sim and putting it back in the Jitterbug Flip2 - it never fails, it has a loud sound and light glows and it vibrates like an old pager. I still have a sim in the Kompakt for outgoing calls I occasionally make and it’s a nice pocket calculator.
