So I showed my kids the LP3 and Kompakt and they both said they liked the look of the Kompakt better lol. I am very close to cancelling my LP3 pre-order. There is just something pulling me towards this phone the same pull I had for the pure. It just gives off a peaceful vibe. This is something this company excels at. All their products are made very intentionally and they honestly just make you feel calmer. I just hope we get some info soon about when the phone will be released. Does anyone think we have to wait till next summer to get the phone in our hands?
I just began my third year with the F1 Orchid + the Premium Service. If I like the Kompakt, then I will skip the upgrade to the F1 Horizon models or to the F1 Pro models.
When comparing the phones, I think besides the features and different looks, it really comes down to ethos and how they’re similar, but different. I think the Kompakt is about simplicity, but still allows you to use the internet. It is essentially a better smartphone, but with simple applications. The LP3 is simple, but in a different way. Their whole ethos is about using a phone only for necessary tools, but with regards you can access internet and all the necessities from a seperate device. It’s about not having apps at all, actually. It doesn’t have an e-reader like the Kompakt will have because the LP3 is supposed to only have the very basics. I hope that all makes sense.
The Kickstarter for the Kompakt isn’t out yet, but, just from the info page on Mudita’s website, to me, it seems like although they offer a sleek, simple and minimal look, they’re for two different types of people. It depends on what tools/features you need. We will have to wait until both are out to see how well they work in comparison. I’m just saying, neither is better as far as now, just different.
Speaking of phones, even though the Kompakt & LP3 are some of the more popular buzz phones coming soon, I’ve been getting recommendations from Google for The Minimal Company. To me, it essentially looks like a modern-day BlackBerry, just a more sleek, minimal design. Again, this phone is much different than LP3 since it will feature App Store, Apps, etc. it’s a smartphone and it runs in Android. Not something I’m in the market for, just figured I’d mention it since that’s also been up on my radar.
I’m excited to see the Kickstarter for the Kompakt. I also pre-ordered the LP3 and I think it will work very well with my Mudita clock. Only reason I haven’t cancelled my pre-order is because I want to wait and see more of what the Kompakt will offer. I really like all the components that are offered so far. But like I said, it’s different, it may not be exactly what I’m looking for. All the features are really attractive though!
There has been no confirmation that the Kompakt lets you use the internet, I think you are assuming it will have a browser and I highly doubt it will, if it does I won’t be buying it
Perhaps. Yes, I could be wrong, I guess I was only going by the photos where it shows the service & WiFi symbols at the top left corner. Anyway, even if the Kompakt doesn’t allow the internet, I still think that the phones have different approaches, which was my main takeaway.
I’m a little bummed that there was a focus on me being possibly wrong in one regard versus commenting on the general comparison I made between the two phones. But that’s okay.
