Safety differences between the Aurora store and APK sideloading?

Hey guys, this is my first time to post on the forum. I am wondering how the safety compares between the two instillation methods. My goal is to get Apple Music on the Kompakt, but the APK website: https://www.apkmirror.com/ (recommended by Ms. @Urszula) feels scary to download code and install it on my phone. I really would like to not brick the phone. The Aurora store feels safer, but I am interested if anyone has used both and had any issues specifically with Apple Music(Or other apps)?

Also, do y’all think one or the other would drain the battery less?

Thank y’all for your time

Aurora Store is just a third-party frontend for Play Store. So the APK you’re getting comes from Google Server, so it’s as safe as it gets.

It’s open Source and you can download apps anonymously without having to enter your google account.

Aurora store has the benefit of managing updates for you, so you don’t have to bother to download apks manually. Plus you can uninstall them if you want since the Kompakt doesn’t support uninstallation on its settings or Mudita Center. You need other apps or launchers to do that.

I understand, so if I chose to use the APK mirror website, I couldn’t uninstall whatever app I put in? If that’s the case, how would an update work for the APK option? Would I just install a new Apple Music file on there and then in the phone I would have 2 Apple Music apps since I can’t delete the old version?

No when you install a newer APK it will override the old one, you won’t have 2 different ones.

You simply can’t uninstall it if you decide to do so in the phone itself or Mudita center. You can however uninstall using a thirdparty launcher, package manager or using ADB

Okay that makes sense. Thank you for your time and wisdom!! Do you have any input on the battery life impacts for either option?

I haven’t used Apple Music but there shouldn’t be any difference.
