Request: timer feature for Kompakt

Hello!

I’d like the ability to please set a countdown timer, such as for cooking alarms. To set it to 10 minutes and have it count down, for example. as opposed to having to set an alarm for the precise hour and minute in the future.

This would be a very welcome QOL item!

Thank you!

I made my own in Android Studio. It took me some days, because I never made an app before. If you are interested, I can share the .apk.

You can add up to 5 timers, name them, and choose a ringtone. Tap to start, tap again to reset. Sadly, the timer app won’t open automatically when a timer runs out (this has something to do with the notification stuff and was too hard for me to figure out), but it will run in the background when the app is closed. When a timer runs out, it is shown with a black background and will ring until you tap it again.

Here are some photos of it:

edit: I don’t know where all the dust/dirt in the bezel is coming from. I’ve never had this before taking the pictures.

If I may, I would really like to have a customizable timer app from Mudita that allows you to set interval timers like an old school GymBoss timer. That would be great to use my Mudita Kompakt as a sports timer during my HIT-workouts.

Great work on that timer app!

Great work!
And I passed on the timer suggestion to the team.
BTW – and I know it’s not a solution, BUT if you ever need a 5/10/15/30/45/60 etc timer… you may use the Meditation app. :innocent:

That’s wild, do you only steep your black tea for 15 seconds?

You’re right – it’s not a solution. When setting a timer, nobody decides if it’s a multiple of 5 and then chooses a different app.

You’re right. That is why the request for a timer has been passed on.

Everything else would be savagery…

Nah, it was for presentation purposes, didn’t want to wait 3 minutes to take the picture.

That looks great! I love tea and this is such a good idea!

Whenever I get an Android phone (yes, I used to be one of those people who constantly switch back and forth between Android and iOS phones :D), I always tell myself that this will be the time I will finally write an app for it. But so far, I haven’t found the motivation to do it  I’ll take your post as a role model to finally do it

I’m not recommending this since most launchers aren’t optimized for e-ink screens but I was just playing around and it turns out most of the default Android things are still present in the OS, just not exposed through the default launcher, including Android’s Clock app that has a timer, stopwatch, and alarm built in. The dark background isn’t great but it is certainly useable!
