As a supporter of your vision for mindful and minimalist technology, I would like to suggest a couple of features that could make the Mudita Kompakt even more appealing to users who value high-quality audio.
The Suggestions:
Hi-Res Audio Playback:
Including support for lossless formats like FLAC in the built-in music player would allow users to enjoy music in its best quality.
Hi-Res Bluetooth Codec Support:
Adding LDAC/aptX/AAC, a high-quality Bluetooth codec, would let users stream music wirelessly without compromising on sound quality.
Why This Matters:
• Technical Feasibility: The processor used in Mudita Kompakt (MediaTek MT6761) and its Android-based system can support Hi-Res Audio with the right implementation.
• Meeting User Needs: Many users who appreciate minimalist devices also value high-quality audio. Supporting these features would make Mudita Kompakt stand out as a simple yet capable device for music lovers.
Additional Question:
Could you also share which Bluetooth module/generation the Mudita Kompakt will use? Knowing whether it will support Bluetooth 5.0 or higher would help clarify its potential for streaming high-quality audio.
I believe these features align with Mudita’s mission of offering thoughtful and high-quality technology. Thank you for considering this feedback, and I look forward to seeing how Mudita Kompakt evolves.
@jeremi
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback and for supporting our vision of mindful and minimalist technology. We truly appreciate your suggestions regarding Hi-Res Audio playback and Bluetooth codec support, as well as your question about the Bluetooth module.
While our focus with Mudita Kompakt is on simplicity and digital well-being, we are always listening to input from our community to explore potential enhancements. Your ideas for high-quality audio features are valuable and will be shared with our team for consideration as we continue to refine our offerings.
For the Bluetooth module, Mudita Kompakt will utilize Bluetooth 5.0, designed to support reliable and energy-efficient connectivity.
Thank you again for the feedback. I will make sure to pass it on to our team
When it comes to audio over Bluetooth, if implementing aptX™ or LDAC is not feasible due to technical or financial constraints, that’s unfortunate, but I understand the limitations. However, the AAC codec at 256 kbps–320 kbps (16-bit or 24-bit, 44.1 kHz) and the A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) are considered the modern “minimum standard” for contemporary phones. While this wouldn’t qualify as Hi-Res, it is a significantly better solution compared to the rather basic SBC and LC3. These options don’t carry substantial licensing costs but offer a noticeable improvement in audio quality.
Yes, that would also be a very important functionality. DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) would allow listening to Hi-Res music. It would be great to be able to connect such an external converter to Mudita Kompakt.
But for me the most important thing is also to design the player interface well… so that you can easily search and sort music by: album / artist / favorites / date added. It would be great if you could also upload audiobooks audio to the player, which would be in a separate place. And so that the player remembers where you finished listening. Take care of the music, and it will be beautiful and mindful!
I was about to post a new thread asking whether aptX HD or LDAC were supported on the Kompact. Clearly, the answer is no.
I wholeheartedly agree with the OP. This would be an excellent quality of life offering. I do understand that the focus is on minimalism, but IMO that doesn’t mean being reductionist. It is not more distracting to listen to audio using these better codecs compared to lesser codecs. It’s simply a question of hardware and software support. So, I would also appreciate something definitive from the Kompact team on this.
Is it possible given the current hardware? If no, please say this. If yes, are you willing to add software support for it? Please specify either way.
That’s interesting. I would like it if this were the case, but is it authoritative? This is yet another bit of information missing from the tech specs. Did @urszula confirm this?
That would certainly be welcome. But playing FLAC/AAC files on the Mudita Kompact using the built-in speakers is one thing, being able to stream using AptX HD, LDAC codecs is a slightly different topic.
@petemeister Just to confirm that we are on the same page, you would like to know if Mudita Kompakt Bluetooth supports AptX HD & LDAC codecs. Am I understanding this correctly?
100% correct, @urszula. Confirmation on whether it’s presently supported would be appreciated. If it’s not supported at the moment, confirmation that it is definitely on the roadmap would be outstanding (and would open the market up.)
Ursula, would you please also confirm if FLAC and WAV music and any audiobook files are supported by the native music player.
At Tracklist.Pro, we absolutely appreciate the focus on mindful, high-quality technology reflected in the Mudita Kompakt project.
Supporting Hi-Res Audio playback (FLAC and more) and advanced Bluetooth codecs like LDAC and aptX would truly enhance the listening experience.
For users who deeply care about sound quality, these features turn a minimalist device into a powerful tool for immersive audio enjoyment.
Managing and organizing a library of lossless tracks becomes even more valuable when the device fully supports their superior quality.
We specialize in helping users catalog, organize, and get the most from their high-fidelity music collections.
We’re excited to see how Mudita continues bridging simplicity with premium experiences — it’s a perfect match for audiophiles!
And when you’re ready to organize your Hi-Res collection the smart way, is here to help.
@petemeister Our team said that these codecs are proprietary and not open source codecs and require a license, so they are not currently supported on Mudita Kompakt.
