- That would silence itself on calls and fade back after call or message
- That could leave next, stop etc. and few functions availiable on keys, even when in background
- That you could continue typing SMS, Notes, Calendar etc. with mp3 in background without much lag
I would also like to have these functions and they should actually be feasible without any problems. After all, every inexpensive MP3 player had them 10 years ago.
But I am sure that this will come, since the music player is to be completely revised. Unfortunately, it is hardly usable as it is.
Hope we will see improvements gradually, mp3 function is great and usable feat when done right
Sadly its hardly this will be currently addressed.
I woud love if @Grzegorz_Szmidt could put this on:
a) Priority to do list for Pure 2 sw advancement
b) Low priority list if feat could then be backported to Pure
CPU wise Pure can do it, as lower speced Nokias could do it. Background mp3 leaves ability to use notes, calendar, phone and sms while music plays.
Yeah I have requested about that as well. It’s impossible to use at my gym since I can’t listen to music while writing notes. I can’t listen to hourly music sets since any phone call will make the music stopped and since it doesn’t have a forward button (why?) I have to listen from the beginning. You can’t listen to audiobooks or podcasts for the same exact reason. Any other activity will stop them and you have to hear it again from the beginning praying that you don’t get a phone call.
This, T9, Calendar appointments, better BT conectivity headphone and speaker connectivity is a must if Pure 2 is to succeed.
Knowing what Pure 1 users went through it would be only fair to then backport what can be done.
We would have it fixed later, but way better then never.
Also supply of batteries and parts, if not a repair service at least in Poland, is a must is company wants to be on phone market. Its way easier with watches and merch.
I hope @Grzegorz_Szmidt and @urszula can transfer this back to teams and managment, as I believe they are aware of, but maybe not of overall user disatisfaction and threat to brand name and loyalty. In present conditions I find mudita external team doing their best to service the community, but other pars like repair, pre sale testing and software fixing as unfunctional company parts.
Also better testing so speaker and SAR antenna isues dont repeat, and I understand that cannot be fixed ever after production. So testing models and longer testing is a must.
I understand early products are always experience learning, but how the next products do and are, will decide companies long term reputation (which is already damaged by Pure flaws, making most of listed features unusable).
Some could be fixed in Center - better mp3 handling and suffix playlist creation, calendar events as notes popping on date, notes typing via computer.
Some needs software revision, but I believe it can be done by backporting Pure 2 firmware advancements to some level.
Thank you for your continuous feedback! I will make sure to let the team know. Currently, there are no plans for a Pure 2, and since Pure is no longer being manufactured, there will be no new features or improvements made to this model. We have gathered a lot of feedback from Pure users, and many of the issues identified will be addressed in the upcoming Kompakt that we are currently developing.
Android phone can hardly have same issues.
Hope pure 2 and some possible pure sw fixes can be brought back to table, once Kompakt is mature and successful
Hope Pure generated enough interest as dumphone, and idea is solid, needs just better execution.
Thus after you survive Android e-ink market (also in infancy) it would be good to reconquer the dumbphone market with Pure 2 (or other name)
I will be SHOCKED, if they release a pure 2. I just don’t see it happening will not be a large market for it especially after Kompakt is released, the reality is the pure and phones just like it are far too basic. Most people can’t go day to day with such a basic phone that does not have a working calendar, directions, and other useful apps like directions etc. I just don’t see them creating version 2 of this phone
You would be surprised that dumb phone market exists, much in mid aged people, retired and conscious youth
Retired people might be poorer, but there also some rich people or kids can give them gift, Mid generation that is IT literate but fed up with toxicity might be main driver. And special group of youth seems to be main target with general style of Mudita.
Yes basic phone, but quite advanced is also lighter, less disctracting and longer leasting freeing also stress of breaking and battery drain plus distractions.
I bet Pure could outsell Kompakt, since e-ink smarts are also niche market, if he did not have troubles it dd - if it was tested and software mature product that lived up to its feature list to the best.
So will Pure 2 with offline maps and Signal text messaging and maybe a 10pix branded camera ever appear? Its up to Mudita, but also Kompakt success. I would buy one.
Kompakt - While its nice and has bigger e-ink overally e-ink handheld Android based computers are more expensive and have screen unsuitable for gaming, videos and partially even photos. They are great as secondary saver screen, but less as main. They are more expensive and offer a bit less functionality, in overall competitive market.
How much will mindful tech and less distraction (expected from dumphone but not smart) be appealing beside e-ink and be a competative edge, remains to be seen.
Also, HiSense A5 is about only $200 and I doubt Kompakt can beat it price and feature wise.
To remain on topic, I still cant believe open source RTOS on powerful enough Cortex CPU can`t put mp3 in playback. It seems OS was made with single tasking in mind, which is sooo … 1984 (Amiga and Mac were there in 1985 Software wise its also by sorting, playlist options and graphic (equalizer) options and setting worse mp3 player almost ever. First Symbian players, Nokia and Sony Ericsson or Win95 / AmigaOS mp3 players can do more.
Only similar bad implementation I can think of was default KaiOS 2.x mp3 player, but there you had some substitutes.
If you decide to put a feature, do your best. Otherwise it becomes almost false advertising - mistake not to be repeated, as well as advertised but not good branded not stereo speaker plus bad BT speakers connectivity
(What A mistake di makea! - Captain Bertorelli Allo Allo)
Which is sad since good player, playing lossless formats coupled with DAC and more storage or SD slot is also “back to vynil” and “Hi Fi” feat that has its own audience too. Maybe something for Pure 2?
