Phone onlocks on touching sensor not full press as it should

the unlock screen should not react to the sensor but to the full press of the button and only then react to the fingerprint sensor. which is a bug imho. it keeps trying to unlock even when i don’t push it, would love to see this fixed as well. could easily do a pocket call.

@pictoys Yes, our team is aware of this issue & they’re on it.
I’ll add that’s it’s high on the priority list to get this fixed

I actually like this feature. As a former iPhone user, I was paranoid of breaking the home button (as it was known to break over time), so I enjoyed the ability to unlock and open my phone with just touching it instead of pressing it. I’ve enjoyed being able to unlock my Kompakt with just a touch instead of a press.
As I mentioned on another thread, I don’t have any of the fingers on my left hand set with the sensor so that my phone doesn’t accidentally unlock when I put it in my pocket using my left hand.

sorry guys, this is clearly a bug. when i lock it and leave it in my pocket, 9 out of 10 times i find it trying to dial the emergency numbers or already being logged on dialing some numbers or whatever it can do with random touches. the only way to prevent it from totally going mad in my pocket is by long press and then press lock which makes it impossible to unlock itself totally but it still tries to dial the emergency numbers or logging in with numbers. its really no matter of preference, its just wrong and i am surprised Mudita delivered a product like this and has not fixed it immediately. if its not in the July update i will return my phone. This is actually putting unnecessary pressure to our emergency lines and should have been fixed over night. I know i can change the number so it does not actually call emergency but it will keep trying to do so and cost nerves and battery. i don’t even know why i have to explain that.

When the phone does not reconize a fingerprint it should not go to the screen with keypad directly. After 3 or 4 false attempts it should lock itself and then only unlock by pushing the powerbutton. Then by pushing the power button the screen with the keypad should appear and you can enter your pin and use the phone.
I think this should be the best solution.
For now I have the emergency number changed to 9000000000, which is impossible for the phone to call. But it 'll still drain your battery.

I wanted to say it happens to me with my spare Samsung Galaxy somenumber too, but in fact it only happens once in a while that I lock myself out with my butt getting 5 failed unlock attempts. I just tried touching my arm and palm and whatnot and it seems that the screen is somehow detecting when it’s a bigger surface contact rather than just a fingertip (or a bit more, whole finger laid on the phone also triggered the sensor).

With just the button sensor and no other ways to detect if the phone is held up, it might be tough to work around that way now I begin to think.

But I noticed another thing - on a smartphone, if you fail to unlock by touching the sensor, no screen lights up unless you press the button. IMO accidental brush over the sensor could still be interpreted as an unlock attempt, but it SHOULDN’T bring up the pinpad. With or without emergency button, none at all.

The logic of waking up the sensor with a button press after a while needs to cope with that but I strongly suggest no pinpad without button press. Wanna unlock with pin code cause your finger chopped off - press the button.

Btw its uncanny how many times side button sensor gets brushed, I remember only a handful of situations my latest smartphone was locking itself out while in a pocket - but that’s still nothing compared to dialing 911.
