I had a pixel watch, which wouldn’t work on degoogled devices, but have recently been looking into getting a new smartwatch, either Garmin or Samsung.
I’ve heard that folks who have paired with smart watches were able to receive notifications, at least on the Withings and Garmin watches. The only issue I’m seeing it Garmin Connect stops running in the background after an hour.
So, has anyone had luck with keeping their smart watch paired to the kompakt?

@spencersabo The one person on the forum, who, I believe has a Garmin watch is @kirkmahoneyphd. Maybe he can offer some insight?
My Garmin watch works perfectly fine with Kompakt. Syncs fine, and runs in the background with minimal battery waste (Kompakt battery routinely lasts 2 days instead of 3, but I’m fine with that).
I both completely disabled Duraspeed and disabled battery optimization just for the Garmin Connect app (not sure if this has led to my success in not having it stop running in the background since I also have not experimented with it too much).

Thanks for the response! That’s great to know. Does it also receive notifications? Specifically from third party apps?
I’ve also heard Garmin Pay works without google play services, and through the nature of how it functions, should be perfectly safe on a device like the Kompakt.

Absolutely, my Garmin watch is completely functional as it was with my previous iPhone. In addition, as I believe it is a unique function with Android phones, within the Connect app you can choose which notification the watch receives. I have had difficulties getting the caller name or number to show on phone calls, but I can accept or decline calls from the watch and dismiss notifications. With the help of a sideloaded Calendar app, I was also able to get my calendar to sync to the watch. Garmin Pay works as well.
EDIT: I also just tried the Garmin IQ app (to download new apps), and it also works perfectly fine.
