I feel so alone.
Is anyone else using the phone out of the box?
@urszula you do a great job, but I know you have sideloaded apps.
I wish I could use the phone out of the box with nothing added to it. But the maps don’t have traffic updates that help avoid accidents etc so I have to sideload waze. The weather app also does not give you the ‘feels like temp’ I want to know the exact temp cause in canada the summers are hot and humidity makes a difference to the actual temp so I sideload the the weather network app. I also have to sidload activity manager to get rid of the text sounds because we can’t silence them on the kompakt. So yes i woud love to use it as as but simply can’t. But regardless I don’t mind sideloading because the few things I do have sideloaded are tools not apps that waste my time or ones I gravitate toward when I am bored.
Since the new update, I’ve only installed CalmCast. Before that, I also had Futo Keyboard installed because the Mudita keyboard wasn’t really usable for me. CalmCast will remain the only additional app I’ve installed because I listen to podcasts almost every day, and the app integrates perfectly with Mudita OS. It’s beautifully minimalist and simply does what it’s supposed to do.
Other than that, I’ve deleted everything except for the following apps because I don’t use them:
-Meditation (I use this every day)
-Music (I use this occasionally, and I’d use it more if the songs on the albums were displayed in the correct order)
-Calculator (occasionally, when I want to quickly calculate a discount while shopping)
-Maps (I’ve used them once so far on a bike ride, just to test them out; otherwise, I use paper maps)
I mainly use it for making calls and occasionally sending text messages, as well as for listening to podcasts on my bike ride to work.
I am using OOTB version. Was thinking about sideloaded apps, but I will not charge my phone every 3 days like a caveman. The music app is a pain, but it can be managed. I do not use maps or any other functionalities. Phone is for talking, texting and music. For those purposes, it is perfect.
Straight out of the box, and very happy with the Mudita that way. I think the more complex, the more likely to fail for one reason or another. The phone does exactly what I need ‘'out of the box’ - no need to toy with it. (word ‘toy’ carefully chosen and properly descriptive)
Yep, using it with no sideloaded app, since the new update (also due to the fact core apps feel more comfy now).
I stopped temporary work so I do not need to constantly check for new missions anymore through an app (pfew , that was constant mental load, it ruins the free time / vacation time ; I sympathize with the platforms workers). I use a tablet / PC for the other tasks which enables me to postpone them / dedicate some specific time period to them. I now try to see if Whatsapp doesn’t lock me out eventually. My bank doesn’t force me to use an app. I don’t care for the traffic as I mostly use bikes or busses.
I warned people to send me SMS for urgent stuff as long as I can check once a day it’s OK. (like an actual mailbox)
It feels good ! But I’m well aware this ideal use case may only apply to the minority.
Yeah today I went and just removed waze and here maps lol. sometimes I do like just using the phone as is. as much as I love waze I don’t use it a lot. The only app I now have on the phone is the sober time app, its a habit tracking app for a variety of habits I need this on the phone, it helps me stay away from junk food and coffee, I have not drank coffee in 2.5 months thanks to this app, pure decaf now, and 8 years sober so this is app that is staying on my kompakt
Eh ! May I ask an off-topic question ?
What long-term benefits to not drinking coffee did your experience ?
I struggle with coffee as well ; makes me bad tempered, sleep badly, stressed and induces concerning palpitations ![]()
As for the habit tracker, can you do it differently, on paper or in the notes app ?
I have adhd so what I found was caffiene really amped me up way too much, and honestly after awhile you are not really feeling the effects of caffiene like its not like its giving you anymore energy you basically keep it up because if you don’t you will get withdrawl symptoms. I just feel much calmer, I drink way more water, water is what you need, but we obvioulsy go to caffiene cause its a drug. But do I miss it sometimes hell yeah lol. I used this same app to become 8 years sober so I have to stick with it it works, I mean i literally have no had coffee now in almost 3 months so this app works! I don’t see myself keeping track of it on paper
I try, but beaucause I love music, I needed to install spotify and shazam. I think it takes a lot of time to put music on the Kompakt and I can’t explore other genres. If I install other apps, they will be for daily use like a timer app. Please tell me if I am far from the topic, ok? ![]()
There is a trick which I used for my USB stick in the car. I changed the names of the mp3 files with the number of the song in front
MP3tag is a free app with who you can do it.
If you have the music on your computer, download the app. Load the directory with music, and use this $num(%track%,2) - %title%
You can do this for all the muic in one time ![]()
Greetings,

I’ve changed as well. Unfortunately OOTB music app sucks. Last week I installed CalmMusic. I do not like listem to my music to be played in random. Most of the time I like to listem to full albums, and OOTB app does not support that.
I’d love to be able to use out of the box, but alas, most of my use of Kompakt besides basic calls/text is listening to podcasts… so right now I can’t do without the Calmcast app.
How’s the coffee-free life going? I cut out coffee a few months ago and surprised at the changes (previously a daily coffee drinker for 20+ years).
You and me BOTH. Honestly, I just LOVE CalmCast. It’s my fave. I’m doing chores, it goes on & it makes my time go by faster.
Nice! I have been caffeine-free for many months, but I still get to enjoy coffee. Here’s how I do it:
Swiss Water Method decaffeinated green beans → roasted in a popcorn maker → waiting at least 24 hours for the roasted beans to degas → ground right before use at the start of a day → AeroPress-brewed → a cup of delicious decaffeinated coffee that fools my coffee-lover friends but does not keep me up that night
I might have to check this out! I do miss coffee sometimes.
