New user here, curious about the Offline switch on the Mudita Kompact.
First question: If I power the phone off, is it then by default also Offline, or when I do this, should I also switch it to offline mode in order for it to be totally offline? Asked another way, am I totally offline without engaging the switch if I turn the phone off?
Next question: I was in offline mode before I powered down the phone. I then powered down the phone. The phone was totally off and the switch was in the offline position. Before turning the phone back on, I switched it back to online, and then turned the phone back on. Even though the phone was now on, and the switch was in the online position, I had no connectivity. I switched it back to offline, and then back to online. The problem was fixed, connectivity was restored. Is this normal? I would think that when the switch is online and I turn the phone on again that I should not have any issues with losing connectivity. I am a North American user and my provider is Tello.

Are you asking if powering Mudita Kompakt off makes it completely “offline” anyway?
And also, are you asking if connectivity will automatically return after this particular power-cycle sequence?

While phone was off, move the switch back to Online
Power phone on
No cellular connectivity
Toggle Offline+ ON → OFF again
Connectivity returns

The sequence you just listed/repeated is exactly what I experienced. I was surprised that after turning the phone back on I had to toggle back offline and back online again for connectivity to restore. Is that normal?
Thanks for checking! I am enjoying the phone, this is my first week using it.
One of the main reasons I bought it is that I don’t want to be invaded by Google anymore. I know that for regular phones, when you turn them off, they are still connecting and “talking” with other electronics and you are not 100% offline. With Mudita you can kill all electronic communication with the offline switch…therefore, for 100% privacy while powered off, do I need to flip the switch to offline? That’s what I have been doing so far.
The other question is not such a big deal either, I am just curious. However, when I experienced the scenario of turning it on and not having connectivity, I was worried that something was wrong. Connectivity restores when I toggle to offline and back to online.
I spoke to our team about this and YES, when Mudita Kompakt is completely powered off, it is offline. You do not also need to move the Offline+ switch to the offline position.
However, the physical switch provides an additional hardware-level safeguard. In rare cases, advanced spyware can make a phone appear to be powered off or in airplane mode while it remains connected. The Offline+ switch physically disconnects the cellular modem, microphones, and cameras, preventing communication even in such a scenario.
Regarding your second question, we were able to reproduce this behavior on MuditaOS K 1.4.0 and 1.5.0. When the phone is started with the switch in the online position, connectivity should return automatically.
For now, moving the switch to Offline+ and then back online should restore the connection, as you experienced.
