Offer to help with Swedish keyboard and possibly translations

Hello Mudita team!

I’m eagerly awaiting my Mudita Kompakt coming in the next few days.

I noticed that the keyboard will support the normal expected languages, English, Spanish, etc. but also more uncommon ones like Polish (which I understand is because the phone is Polish after all).

Since I’m a Swede in Sweden it would benefit me massively if there was a keyboard for Swedish characters (that is, the exact same as English with the addition of: Å, Ä, Ö) and was wondering if and how I can help with that.

I personally prefer English language on my phones, except keyboard, BUT if I can also easily help with translating the OS to Swedish I’d be open to that.

As a swede myself Im very interested in being able to type ÅÄÖ!

Until there is a Swedish keyboard, you could try the German one in the meantime. It has ÅÄÖ on long-press.

Quite so, I have one of those in my name. Though I understand long-pressing the English keyboard A and O will bring up alternative letters, including Swedish? At least that is a workaround for now.

I use the ÅÄÖ when texting by long pressing on A and O. It’s slower than typing with a Swedish keyboard layout, but it works for now. Unfortunately, I can’t access ÅÄÖ when using my keyboard for typing messages on the phone. It would be very convenient to have an actual Swedish keyboard instead of just access to the characters.

I requested keyboard support for special characters when the kickstarter campaign started, and Muidita comfirmed that they will add support for other languages, including Nordic (Norway, Sweden, Denmark). The English keyboard supports long-press to access the characters for now, but it certainly does slow down the texting experience, so I look forward to Mudita adding full support for other languages.

That’s great, thanks for the tips everyone! Us Finns would also appreciate having ÅÄÖ easily available, but the long press solution sounds doable as well :+1:

For those looking for international keyboard support, I recommend you sideload FUTO or Gboard. They have pretty much all languages and they are projects that are updated on the regular.

I’m currently trying out Thumb-Key. It looks cool once you’ve gotten used to it (which I sadly still haven’t).

Hi, I’m using the English keyboard and have noticed that sometimes when I long-press it doesn’t work. I have to shut down the message app and then try again for a couple of times. Have any of you experienced this as well? I have the latest upgrade for the phone but it didn’t solve the matter. Hopefully this is something that will get sorted with later upgrades until we will get the Swedish keyboard!

@annam Hi. Welcome to the Mudita Forum!
Our team is aware of the keyboard issues & they are working on getting the bugs out  That should be fixed in an update.
