Second day with my kompakt NA version and im enjoying the experience so far however apparently, people cannot send me links/videos via text for some reason! makes me kinda nervous that im not receiving other texts. Is this happening with anyone else? Also the bluetooth cuts out for no reason sometimes… otherwise it works good im on Verizon btw, also they should start selling cases that protect the usb port and headphone jack cuz if water touches this guy then its over for him

I am in Canada and I was worried about this as well after a nightmare experience with the Pure, but through my first few hours of use yesterday I was able to text back and forth with people get pictures from them etc, not sure about links, but I have messaged some people this morning and not heard back so now I am nervous lol

it turned out to be videos that i could not receive. I will likely be switching back to my old device though as i’ve realized the kompakt is running android 12 leaving it vulnerable to a plethora of security risks. Its a shame because I absolutely love the phone !!!

Hi there, I am not a security expert at all, but my common sense approach to it tells me that most risks are either apps or some kind of links send to the phone. With limiting any extra apps to a minimum I would think using a mudita kompakt might turn out to be effecitvely safer than using more modern android phone. But depending on your context I can fully understand there might be circumstances, where this is not the case.

Yeah for my use case I have sideloaded no apps, I have nothing on there where I need a lock on the phone, also I guess I just revealed I have a boring life

If you look into it a lot of the risk involves wifi/bluetooth based attacks. But yes side loading apps poses a greater risk as well.

@mewower99 Are you receiving the text messages, at all? Or are you just not able to click on the links? Like it just text & not a hyperlink?
If you are getting the text & are just not able to click on it- That’s intentional. There is no web browser, so where would the link open?
it was just videos not links. had no issues otherwise with the phone regarding texting and calls. however I will not be using it until all security concerns are addressed.

@mewower99 Videos are not supported in the Text Message/SMS app- so when you receive a video, this is what you should be getting. I am going to ask our team about this & get back to you.
yeah i dont receive anything when sent a video. I stopped using the Kompakt for now until the security of the device becomes more clear.

well there is a webview component. I get links in Signal as well and they perfectly well open in the webview-component. Which is for me really great.

I believe that @urszula earlier posted elsewhere that the Kompakt’s SMS app intentionally does not include the WebView component. This explains why tapping a URL within a message in the SMS app will not open to WebView.

thanks for pointing to that. I understand this can be an intentional decision. But will be good to rather explain that as a feature than as a technical limitation that could be very easily overcome.

@timonstera We understand the confusion. WebView is not a browser in the same way Chrome or Brave is. WebView is a component (not an app) that developers embed inside other apps to display web content.
