So I went to Verizon T-Mobile AT&T, and none of them said they were compatible with the phone I feel like I’ve been lied to. I’m gonna return the phone. I don’t know what to do.
I use T mobile…
How did you get it to work? Did you put the SIM in from another device?
You need to check the phone frequency bands. If they match, it SHOULD work. You should just be able to pop the SIM card out of your phone, put in the kompakt and again… it should work… though maybe I’m wrong!
For example: I use US Cellular
Here are the frequency bands for it:
B12
B5
B2
B4
B66
B71
Here are the bands used for the Kompakt:
4G LTE:
LTE-FDD: B2/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/18/19/25/26/66/71
LTE-TDD: B34/38/40/41
With that said, I’m really surprised it doesn’t work on T-Mobile or AT&T.
I haven’t actually gotten my phone yet, but I’ll have to check myself. I’m truly hoping it’ll work. If not, then I (or you) might have to mess with the APN settings.
If it doesn’t end up working on my network, I might have to end up returning it also. I truly hope I don’t because I love the company, the ethos, philosophy, the staff is great and responsive. If I have to return the phone, I still plan on buying stuff. The alarm clocks and watches look awesome!
I have used Mint and T-Mobile - ZERO issues. AT&T sent me an incompatible text but still worked. Started with Mint - just got a physical SIM, put it in…worked from the get go.
So I don’t have a physical Sim on my current phone my iPhone it’s an eSIM. I’m trying to keep my number but transfer it to a physical Sim so I can put it in my mudita
How is Mint Mobile? Was thinking of switching to them
I don’t know
I just bought the SIMcard , hoping it would work because I tried AT&T Verizon, but I haven’t tried T-Mobile yet
T-Mobile seems to be the way to go. I was having issues with texts missing entirely on AT&T, but T-mobile (via US Mobile) seems to be working well so far.
@sebastianbeland99, like we discussed in the DMs, what you probably encountered was the fact that the sales reps were not familiar with the phone & just didn’t really want to help you set it up.
Here’s a first-hand experience from a user who was able to get things working with Verizon:
Here is the streamlined version of what worked for this USER:
1. Visit a Verizon store
Explain that you want to activate a new line using a physical SIM card.
2. Ask the staff to test the Kompakt with a Verizon test SIM
This helps build confidence that the device can place/receive calls and send/receive texts. Several users noted this step makes staff more willing to help.
3. Activate your new physical SIM in a Verizon-recognized device
Verizon requires the initial activation to happen in a phone already in their database.
If you don’t have one, reps can often use an in-store demo phone. Once activated, move the SIM into your Kompakt.
4. Check the APN settings
Go to: Settings → Network & Internet → Your network
For Verizon, the APN should appear as:
APN: vzwinternet
APN type: default,dun
Some Verizon fields (like MMSC and MMS port) are locked from editing, but default MMS settings appear to function. Photo MMS worked as expected. Short video MMS shows the preview but may display “file type not supported,” which is normal for unsupported media formats. And Mudita Kompakt does not support video messages.
(Note: The user was on MuditaOS K 1.3.0 because 1.4.0 had not yet appeared. MMS behavior may vary depending on OS version.)
5. Test calls
Both inbound and outbound calls worked immediately.
6. Test SMS
Individual texts worked right away.
Receiving texts required a phone restart and up to one hour of network provisioning time.
7. Test group texts
The user could not test this because 1.4.0 was not yet available on their device.
8. Enable and test Wi-Fi Calling
Go to: Settings → Network & Internet → Mobile Network → Advanced → Wi-Fi Calling
Connect to a Wi-Fi network and confirm it works.
Extra note from the user:
They offered a small tip to the Verizon rep for helping with an unusual activation request. Not necessary, but it made the experience smoother.
Just want to know what about T-Mobile?
T-mobile is super easy. Works like a charm. My only concern is that they will be starting to drop 4G sooner than the other carriers. But for now, there has been ZERO issues - from setup to daily use.
yes i just took it from my old iphone worked perfectly
One update from “this user” - they decided to make their Mudita Kompakt their PRIMARY device and shelve their iPhone bc their hands on confidence grew hourly/daily and they realized that it can satisfy nearly all of their needs. All that was required was a little patience with oneself and with the Mudita team. I happen to know this bc this user is ME ;-)!
You have no idea how happy I am to hear this ![]()
I use T-Mobile. I never asked them about compatibility or permission. I just took the SIM card from my old phone and put it into my MK.
