New to the family

This is my 2nd day with the Mudita Kompakt:
and I need to temper my addiction. I have a bad habit of always unlocking my phone without reason. With the Mudita Kompakt, it’s painfully clear how my iPhone was messing with my head. Detoxing is going to be “wispelturig” , as they say in Dutch.
Anyway, the design is just incredible. I’m really, really a fan of the overall look. Simplicity is such a difficult thing to achieve. Kudos to the team!
But I have to confess: I couldn’t help myself. On Reddit, a user recommended using it stock for a while to discover my needs. But my bad habits tricked me, and I immediately started sideloading third-party apps. I kinda regret it; it’s already a bit cluttered with files and apps, and I have no idea what’s stock and what’s not. It’s a hard lesson for me.

Anyway. There’s no reason to review it all over again. All I can add is that it’s already a new love. I started texting and calling friends out of the blue because I wanted to use the thing. Yeah, it’s sometimes difficult to temper enthusiasm when you have ADHD. …I already feel at home.

Welcome!

I too was a compulsive phone unlocker.

If you want that factory fresh feel back again, you could always do a full reset of the phone.

Welcome @sennedriesen Please have no regrets about using your Kompakt in a way that best meets your needs. The out of the box experience is good to try - consider getting another color to use for a while stock, out of the box… then gift it to a friend

Welcome! Fellow Dutch ADD Kompakt user here. Don’t feel guilty about the tweaking and looking for the perfect setup, especially in the beginning. I’ve sideloaded a bunch of stuff too, but finally just kept 2 or 3 apps, along with the lovely inkOS launcher (which I recommend you check out if you haven’t already). Took me some time to get the setup I liked. The Kompakt is great for people with ADHD I believe!

Thanks for the warm welcome. :folded_hands:

The Kompakt is indeed perfectly voor AD(H)D users. I already feel more calm and focussed without the flashy iPhone screaming in my face. More people should be aware of the eye strain as well. I’d love to see another Kompakt in the wild! Oh, and @Blackzappa , love your nickname though!

Such a lovely post to read. That habit of unlocking your phone without even knowing why is probably something many of us can relate to.

And don’t be too hard on yourself about sideloading. There’s no “right” way to use Mudita Kompakt. Part of the experience is figuring out what genuinely adds value and what just brings the clutter back.

I especially loved this:

“I started texting and calling friends out of the blue because I wanted to use the thing.”

If a phone makes you want to actually talk to people, we’ll happily take that as a compliment.

Thanks so much for the kind words, and enjoy getting to know your Mudita Kompakt!

Thanks for your kind words :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s been a week with the phone now, and I’m really loving it! The relaxed atmosphere feels very satisfying. And I can’t thank you (and Mudita) enough for that. Maybe the phone is not “the cure” to magically heal from my quirks, but it does help significantly. Even the little things, like the meditation cards that came with it. Actually, I’ve been started meditating since a few days now. Even with small things like making coffee; I try to see it as a form of meditation: taking the time to pour the hot water over the filter… waiting… pouring… waiting… pouring… waiting… pouring… and suddenly, I’d made the best coffee in the world.

That makes at least 3 of us (Dutch ADHD music afficionados) on here. Welcome!

I hope this device will help you as much as it did for me.
