Nervous About Messaging

Everyone,

I am nervous because my spouse and my family uses iMessage. Now the default is to have RCS on (ios18) and I am not sure that I will even receive their messages even after deregistering iMessage since the Kompakt and LP3 only use SMS. Will this be the case if I am on the Kompakt or LP3?

@urszula do you happen to know this? Sorry for all the questions!

Don’t be nervous. I get on my no-RCS-feature-available flip-phone any message from someone using RCS – be it on iPhone or on Google Android with RCS enabled.

@seasidetrumpet I can’t speak about iMessages because it is an apple product & apple doesn’t really like playing well with others. Hence the green bubble shaming from Apple people. LOL

@urszula oh I am okay with green haha! I just hope I have reliable messages with my family since after this change I will be the only one without an iPhone

@The I’ve learned not to care AT ALL
Good thing that in there rest of the Android has a HUGE market share. It’s just the US that’s biased toward APPLE

You will be fine, @seasidetrumpet.

You will get a separate SMS message from each RCS-group-thread user (such as one of your iPhone-using relatives) who likes a message – say, with a heart icon – in that thread. In contrast, the heart-icon “likes” in an RCS group thread accumulate beneath the single, liked message.

Yes, the SMS experience is effectively wordier, but you WILL get an SMS message for everyone else’s interaction RCS-wise in the thread.
