with eSIM only mode getting the sim tray off disconnects GSM as long as the tray is outside, the PIN is needed afterwards
the 256GB SD card is not recognised correctly (Storage shows 0GB - it used to work previously)
Bluetooth devices are not listed (the same as in 1.1.1)
Don’t see much difference with the keyboard responsiveness,
the PL dictionary correction does not work with diacritics at all
Still cannot disable the PIN from eSIM card
Battery status shows incorrect information (e.g. 0 cycles, when it was charged several times during 3 months)
finger print still does not work as expected. Still can unblock the phone with a different finger than configured (this time while not taping but pressing)
Cannot delete a contact from the phone
Cannot remove recents calls
the Softwared Update has a new option “Release notes” but it does not work it just shows MuditaOS K 1.2.0 and when you tap on it nothing happens (I presume it should show the list of changes?)
Oh man, there is still a small shift between icons on the main screen and the menu (used to be more visible, now is just 1-pixel ;-))
cannot set a hotspot password with PL letter. It just doesn’t save it.
[new] eBook reader shows only 4 books (from hundreds) - there is no arrows (a way) to scroll to other books.
[new] I can observe horribly ghosting in eReader - and every page flashes (shortly) twice, the first time the text is bold-ish and crisp-ish, the second flash everything is blurry - unreadable. Despite of double-flash every page there is a deep screen refresh every 5 pages.
I would also like to disable this PIN, as it doesn’t add much benefit in my opinion for eSIM.
Additionally:
We should be able to change the pin
You should be able to click “cancel” and use the phone offline without a SIM if you don’t enter the pin #
Context:
My carrier assigned a random PIN which I cannot remember.
I added it to a note in my Kompakt, but you cannot access any apps (even offline) without first entering the pin. So the note is useless
If I could just click cancel (to bypass sim pin and come back to it later, I could use the phone for other tasks, including accessing the note with the pin code stored)
If the above isn’t possible, at least changing the pin would allow me to set it to something memorable
The Bluetooth behavior has changed a bit since the update on my end, but it’s still not working properly.
The first time, I was able to find my device (earphones) in the list and connect. However, after the first disconnection, it seems to be forgotten — it no longer shows up in the list of available devices when trying to pair again.
On two occasions, I managed to reconnect, but it happened automatically and without the device appearing in the list of available devices. I just saw the Bluetooth icon appear at the top of the screen, indicating a connection, as I was pressing on the pairing button of my earphones. I’m not sure why it worked those two times and hasn’t worked again since.
So I now installed the new release and definitly no way to connect to my earphones that worked previously (for exactly one time … :-)). I don’t understand why the easy fix was not implemented, as mentioned by others it is not magic at all to give users power to remove existing connections. Even if reconnection would work properly, sometimes I do not want to connect to a certain device automatically anymore, so this is a must anyway for a working bluetooth connectivity. So this is really something that makes be a bit bewildered about the management of mudita. Are they setup properly to offer such a complex product as a feature phone? I am still giving them some benefit of a doubt, but I have to say the whole road to this release, and what it includes and what not is quite disappointing:
why have a widget for music, but no simple way to listen to songs from one album in order
why no fix for pocket dialing issue, really crazy! you can still start emergency call unintentionally! This was prio 1 topic.
also while @urszula was very active, the repsonses were often quite vague like “it is worked on”. But as it did not give any details of the direction or even the specific issues it is kind of not suprising that they (from my point of view) completely missed the mark on this release. Nothing that I hoped for has been realized.
Even the maps navigation is very partially usefull, as
a) you cannot set start point manually
b) in a lot of situations the GPS does not work, but you cannot set the (often known) location manually.
So really nice on paper, but useless in many situations. @Mudita Team: please think about your whole approach on this product. Please do not leave communtiy management to Urzula alone, but really have the whole team and management focus on what the community wants and needs. Right now it feels we have Urszula on our side, but the team not being on Urszulas side. That will not work long term - and particularly not for a product that relied on community funding to come into reality.
Again: I don’t want to be just negative, but after seeing this happen I really feel a wake up call is needed for the product management on mudita side, and I am not sure how to reach them. @urszula : I really very much appreciate your work and would be interested in your view: how come the important issues you were aware were not addressed by the product development team? Is there anyway we as users can help you? I would have wished I could post something more celabratory :-(.
I’ve noticed a big difference in the keyboard, one improvement though would be the autocorrect/suggestion, it gives up too easily, if I’m trying to type “continue” for instance if I miss hit the t and type “cony” it just stops trying to help me
@timonstera I know it’s not satisfying when I can’t give precise timelines, but I only can pass on the info that I am given from the team. I wish I could be more precise, but as you probably know, it’s risky to pin down a specific date, only to find out that something is still not working as it should. That’s why, when I say that “it’s being worked on” our team is REALLY trying to fix the issue. However, these things, sometimes take time.
I have no doubt at all the team is really trying to solve them. I see two issues here though:
a) if they are not reporting to you and to us more specifically their understanding of the problem and their intended solution there is no way of verifying that they fully comprehended the users pain. I am not asking for a timeline, I am asking for specifics. The “Bluetooth” issue is too general, same for the unintentional dialing. If Mudita claims to “Build the release around your feedback” this sort of telling us more precisely how you intend to work with our feedback is mandatory. Otherwise the development team is just building the release around their interpretation of our feedback.
b) I would have like more clarity on the comparative priority: it seems maps and music widget have taken priority over what users have reported as bugs (though I rarely seen a music widget or navigation as requests from users if at all).
So obviously it is muditas call to decide what to take into this release, but if you really aim to build it around the users feedback something else has to happen (at least from my point of you, perhaps others are very happy).
Thanks for sharing although I can’t confirm everything you’ve listed.
Don’t see much difference with the keyboard responsiveness
In my opinion it is definitely way more responsive compared to 1.1.1.
finger print still does not work as expected.
In my case this worked fine with 1.1.1 and even better with 1.2.0. Just like the changelog of the latter says the fingerprint sensor doesn’t respond immediately anymore to other fingers than the registered ones.
the Softwared Update has a new option “Release notes” but it does not work
This works just fine on my end so I can’t confirm this.
I incorrectly assumed, since improvements to group messaging was expected to be part of this update, that this issue would have been fixed: when I press “See participants” in any group text conversation, the window just disappears and function does not work. Before, the text app would crash, so I guess you could call that an improvement but the function still does not work. I can only see the first two names on the main text screen, so for groups with some of the same members, I have to rely on memory and/or context clues to distinguish from each other.
Jeez, is extensive testing done? I feel like it came out with bugs and now, even with detailed feedback from members of this community, the new update is riddled with issues and has made mine into unusable. Here’s to hoping that testing gets much better in the future and our issues are resolved quickly. I feel like I’ve been beta testing a device that still needed a good 3-4 more rounds of review.
Prior to the update some of you guys were creating a lot of pressure about when the update is out. Now after it has been released some of you are creating a lot of pressure because of some bugs.
I can’t take people seriously who are saying the Mudita Kompakt is “unusable”. I’m using it now for a week as my exclusive daily driver starting with Mudita OS K 1.1.1 and since yesterday 1.2.0. It is nowhere near “unusable”. Quite the opposite even.
What still baffles me is how some of you absolutely haven’t got the point this phone and Mudita’s ethos and philosophy is all about since you’re complaining about things like sideloaded apps not working as expected or some features which haven’t been implemented yet.
The Mudita Kompakt has been designed to serve only the basic needs and otherwise it simply is made to distract you as less as possible. In my case that works absolutely wonderfully and on point.
Look I get it. I’ve also posted some suggestions for improvements yesterday and I think the Mudita team is fully aware of our bug reports, feature requests and suggestions, but they are only humans just like us and a small team. They can’t magically pull all of it at once out of a hat.
I really dislike the mentality which is starting showing up here just like in so many other forums and communities online. People are getting really fast upset and some of them already threatening with abandoning the device or brand. That is in no way a healthy start for conversation nor constructive criticism. Last but not least there seems to be not much patience even though Mudita is all about calmness, meditation, patience and self awareness.
All of you and especially those ones who backed on Kickstarter and Indiegogo should be fully aware that we’re in for the long ride and this is just the start. If you don’t have the patience to wait and see all of this unfolding then you indeed might be better off with a competitors device. Even more so if you plan to use the Kompakt more like a e-ink substitute for your smartphone instead of how it is intended to be used: As a minimalist phone which is designed to annoy and distract you as less as possible.
Oh ffs please stop it with the ethos lingo. It makes you sound like a bot.
Don’t turn this forum into a cult like some of the other minimal phones.
Mudita is nobody’s mom to tell them how to use their Android phone.
Most Complaints haven’t been for side-loaded Apps not working, it has mostly been for:
Sms app crashing
Bluetooth devices not reconnecting
More ghosting on the screen
So 1 important bug wasn’t fixed at all (it was claimed to be fixed), two more were introduced and you say that people can’t complain that devs used the time to fix stuff in Meditation or Chess apps.
If you’re happy be happy, but stop telling how much they can complain for a device they paid for.
I stopped reading right there. If you don’t want to get into a meaningful, respectful conversation, then just stop. If you are not able to communicate with me respectfully continuing on then I’m afraid, but will be forced to block you.
I stated my opinion with all due respect without being aggressive against anyone. I don’t need accusations from a random internet forum guy in my life.
If you can’t or won’t continue in a meaningful way, then please:
