I wondered how the accuracy is on this watch, how well does it keep time. day to day? I noted that a couple of people had issues with early runs of this watch losing or gaining a lot of time.
anyone got long term experience with the watch? or thoughts from Mudita?
@eden I’ve had a Mudita Moment since Dec 2021, and I’m quite satisfied with it.
It is natural for an automatic watch to lose seconds. Attitude, magnetism, direct sunlight, excessively hot or cold temperatures or impact might influence the accuracy of a mechanism or potentially damage it. Mudita Moment has a Miyota 9015 automatic movement.
The Miyota 9015 movement is generally considered to have an accuracy of -10 to +30 seconds per day. That’s considered normal.
Apart from avoiding all the factors listed above, we recommend regular maintenance performed by local watchmaker every 2-3 years and service as needed. Treating the timepiece with care and properly maintaining it in good condition, ensures your Mudita Moment will last a lifetime.
Mine gains about 1-2 minutes each day, I think and have done so from the start. I know it’s more than what it should, and I could probably get it fixed by sending it to Mudita, I’ve just never bothered with it.
Thanks yes climate, weather, how its worn can all affect drift. Miyota manufacturer accuracy seems fine, and ive seen where the Miyota 9015 is used in other watches its quite common to see that drift actually be quite small commonly around +1-6 seconds.
even accounting for environmental factors some of the reports here for the mudita watch specifically of +60-120 second drifts per day appear to be an anomaly unique to mudita that i think some have had returned to be repaired/adjusted in the past.
i was more wondering if this had been looked into since its release?
i was wondering if this was down to an issue of the watches not being regulated / tested before shipped from the factory, or an early batch issue with poorer regulation? and if thats been improved or if the processes have been changed to catch any watches which are losing significant time way out of specification?
i rather quite like the look of the watch, so im really just trying to see if the issue was identified, if its just a regulation issue which is fixable, or if it was another issue with these outliers (its also hard to tell, as i havent seen anyone say its not losing +30 and more drift per day )
You should definitely ask them about it, or see if a watchmaker can look at it, it might just need some adjustment (assuming its just an adjustment issue)
I am grateful to Mudita for giving me a refund for my Mudita Moment after I discovered that it was losing too much time every week. I loved the look and feel of the watch, but I needed one that did not require adjusting every single week.
it really shouldn’t be losing signification time unless theres some extreme environmental variable or theres an issue with the watch, it might need some adjustments to the regulator if its not calibrated at the factory (i think they tried to do this with yours?). as you can see from the thread i linked to, generally people only see a few seconds drift from the Miyota 9015 and some adjustments to the regulator can being that down even further.
you always expect you’ll need to make minor time adjustments maybe every few weeks if its drifting a few seconds a day depending on your personal tolerance.
but the minute plus drifts is a little concerning hence my curiosity if it has been investigated and/or process improvements to adjust watches before they’re shipped.
as you say, its a nice looking watch, i’m interested in it. i expect a higher variance in drift with automatic watch movements based on where i live, but still only in the seconds, not minutes a day…
@urszula with all the excitement on peoples phones arriving I expect this might get lost (I’m equally excited ), forgive the ping, hoping with the holidays over you might be able to see my reply / question
@eden Thanks for your patience. Yes, the Kompakt frenzy is in full effect People are excited & I really can’t blame them. It is an exciting time. I did speak with our team about Mudita Moment & since we launched Mudita Moment in 2021, we only has a handful of watches which needed some re-calibration. Other than that, loosing/gaining time (more than what is considered normal for automatic watches) is no longer an issue with Mudita Moment.
