Hello,
I’ve order a Kompakt (global). I’m trying to download mudita center for linux (ubuntu). Download is ok, but once the muditacenter AppImage is on the desktop, it won’t open or install if click on it… Any idea ?
@philmonge Sorry that you’re experiencing problems. As I’m not a Linux user (I’m a Windows girlie) I’ve pinged the CENTER team about your issue. Hold tight
Someone will help you resolve this.
@philmonge Here’s some pointers from a Mudita Center colleague:
- Right-click on the downloaded .appimage file and select Properties.
- Go to the Permissions tab and check the box that says “Allow executing file as program”.
Thanks a lot.
It’s still not opening, but I had an “agree form”… It’s an improvment. Mayebe if I don’t have the phone connected it’s not working… I’ll see when I’ll receive the kompakt.
If it’s not working then, I’ll contact thé support team…
Best regards,
Philippe
@philmonge Have you tried installing the file using your package installer? For each linux distro there is usually a package installer.
Also be sure to “sudo apt update”
And “sudo apt upgrade”
Before trying again.
@philmonge Can you be more specific when you say “it’s not working.” If the device isn’t connected, you should only see the welcome screen — the “agree form” pops up only during the first launch. Our Mudita Center expert said that for Linux , running sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade — it’s pretty standard on Linux. Whether or not you’re using Mudita Center, it’s always good to keep packages updated.
Let me know if this helps.
… and unlike Windows it really updates all OS components, drivers and applications ![]()
Hello,
I have downloaded the mudita center appImage. Moved the “executable as a program” in propriety. I have done the sudo update and upgrade in the terminal… but nothing happens when I click on the icon of the program. Even a right click and “open” is not working. Nothing happens at all…
I have a question : can I use the mudita kompakt without the mudita center ? Is there another way to upload phone numbers and music in it ?
And is there others linux users that can open mudita center ?
Thank you very much,
@philmonge I’ve reached out to our team about this because I’m really not familiar with Linux, so I need some expert help from our techs
Stay tuned. Help is coming.
Version of Ubuntu may help.
Thanks, but I’m not sure to understand what you mean by “version”…
I use Pop!_OS, which is a fork or variation of Ubuntu. After I downloaded the Linux version of Mudita Center (in my case, to a folder that I named “AppIm-ages”), I made it ‘clickable’ through another app called Gear Lever. You can read more about Gear Lever here:
thanks. I’ll try it right away !
AAaaaaannnnnd… It’s a win !!! Thank you very much !
thanks a lot ! I’m not very good at computers etc. I’m just a big bieliver in low tech, opensource and all that… Thanks again for your help !
Thanks. It seems that someone nice showed me a solution. I’ll just have to wait for the kompakt now…
I had luck running it via the terminal with --no-sandbox. Not ideal, but it worked. With the AppImage on my desktop, the command was Desktop/Mudita-Center.AppImage --no-sandbox
@scttmllmn Welcome to the Mudita Forum! We’re glad you’re here & that you were able to get things working on your end.
I am running Mudita Center on Fedora successfully.
I used Gear Lever, which is a simple AppImage manager. Opening the AppImage when Gear Lever is installed results in Gear Lever opening up with an option to add Mudita Center to your applications.
Hi ! Am using the Mudita Center on Arch Linux (Manjaro).
It does work but I have 2 issues :
- I have to connect the Kompakt, open it in my filemanager, then start the Mudita Center then “retry” and it eventually works. I had to try numerous times to find the right order. I guess this is not normal.
- operations are VERY slow. For instance, transferring the Whatsapp Apk (currently in progress) seems to be taking something like 20 minutes. Displaying my contacts lists (I don’t have that many, maybe 200) takes minutes.
(copying files directly from my Linux file manager from / to the Kompakt SD is very fast so this is not a physical issue)
I don’t really really mind as will probably only use it for my initial setup but still strange. I could try on my other Linux PC, which is running KDE Neon (Ubuntu based) to see if the performance differs !
Cheers !
