MMS and messaging

Just for info: provider here in Switzerland doesn’t support MMS any more. They said people use mostly WhatsApp, Telegram and so on.
I tryed Pigeon (Signal) on my Punkt MP02 and it was draining battery very quickly.
I think you (Mudita) have to think further.

You could sideload Signal if you want.

If it do the same as on my MP02 I prefer not.

Signal works fine on Kompakt. I get about 4-5 days of battery with Signal sideloaded.

@shadock I have BOTH Signal & Whatsapp sideloaded on my Mudita Kompakt & they do not drain my battery. I get 6 days out of it on a normal use basis.

Interessant to know, thanks.

Hi, Shadock. I can say from someone who also came from the Punkt MP02 and used Pigeon exclusively- the Kompakt doesn’t drain anywhere NEAR the Punkt.

My Punkt couldn’t even make it a single day. With Signal on the Kompakt, I rarely ever need to charge my phone and when I do it’s super quick.

By the way, I think you’ll also appreciate how you can download the official Signal client on the Kompakt rather than be at the mercy of Punkt- who often likes to not update Pigeon until after it’s been broken for months. I miss that phone, but I don’t miss the battery life or the devs.

Yes the Punkt was from the first batch. Support stopped after a year or so.
But our Kompakt is not so finished too. There’s still a lot to do.

I’ve installed Signal and even with not using it really (3 messages at all) my battery lasting dropped from 8 days to 4.
Think I’ll delete it.

@shadock Thanks for the feedback. I’m not experiencing this. I have both Whatsapp & Signal & I get 6 days out of my battery- easy.
I’ve seen post from other users that report something 5-6 days with regular use. I am, now, curious what else is happening is your case. Any other sideloaded apps?

I have to correct. I’ve just seen that my Kompakt had the mode hotspot on. Don’t no till when, don’t no how and why because I haven’t used it till y have the phone. Now disabled. We will see and I’ll gave you a feedback.
Sorry.
