how were you able to sign into Apple Music. I’m stuck on the part where it asks for a verification code. I do not receive one on my other devices, and there is no way to click the “I did not get a code” link.
I received a code like usual when logging into a new device. No special tricks or anything needed. Installed with Aurora store.
When I had issues logging into another app, installing a browser solved the problem. The pop-up/ text submission required a browser to log in. I don’t think I had this issue with Apple Music but might be worth a try.
So the issue was that I had security keys enabled on my Apple account. For some reason the Android app was not prompting me to use a security key.
Unfortunately, I had to remove all the security keys. Then I could log in on the Kompakt.
@flapke greetings! How did you get YouTube music to work for you? I tried downloading from Aurora, but it hasn’t opened for me.
You need microg to get YouTube music to work. There is another topic with info about how to install it.
Of you dont want to do that, there is also rimusic, a different app for YouTube music.
Newpipe (or forks) Is a really good open source 3rd party youtube client. I stream music on it all the time.
Also, using KISS launcher as home launcher. I’ve been using it for years and very happy to see that it works well on the Kompakt
PSA: Try using Brave Browser if you’re having trouble logging into a sideloaded application. EInkBro kept on giving me errors, but Brave worked perfectly.
Now that I’ve had it for a few days-
From F-Droid:
Fossify Music Player
Goodtime - Minimalist Pomodoro Timer
Antenna Pod
Habits
AnkiDroid
Break.Down.Timer
Open Camera
From Aurora Store:
Niagara Launcher
FUTO Keyboard
shake for the flashlight
Signal
Hue Essetials
Muse: Brain Health & Sleep
Anylist
Firefox Focus
Waze
Only additional apps I added were:
HereMaps
Habit tracker
Pocketcasts
Clima (weather app) - gives more detailed info then the stock app on the Kompakt
Love all 4 of these apps especially Heremaps
I will add additional apps on a case by case basis but only if they are TOOLS, not time wasting apps like email or a browser for example.
Love my Kompakt!
Quite a few…
- Aurora Store & F-Droid for side-loading
- YamLauncher - text-based launcher, tried a few but this one is my favorite so far
- Past Notifications - loaded to swipe right gesture to quickly see notifications. NotificationLog wasn’t showing me SMS but this does, you must use play store download and transfer APK for the paid ad-free key though. If I get a ping I like to be able to actually check what it was from.
- Organic Maps + RHVoice for TTS nav
- ProtonMail - so I can access work emails on the go, don’t like having email on there for security but works for now
- OneCalendar - need Google cal on my phone for work
- Signal
- Discord - I might delete this but some of my friend groups use this exclusively to communicate and it’s nice to be able to see on the go
- Auxio - music app until the default has added features
- Pocket Casts - podcasts
- EinkBro - internet browser
- Mullvad VPN
- Libby - library books
- Obsidian - I use this on my desktop for basically all my personal/work notes, so it’s nice for quick reference (like I copy a recipes from desktop and then use Obsidian to access in the kitchen)
- Table Habit - habit tracker
- FUTO Keyboard
- Aegis - for 2FA
And I am using standard apps:
- Phone
- SMS
- Weather
- Meditation
- Calculator
- Camera
- Recorder
I might strip down as I go but these are the core functions I was using on my smartphone as I adjust to a lower tech lifestyle. I like having smartphone tech but I don’t want to get caught up in doomscrolling and this bridges that gap. I’ve also done some customization via the shell in webadb for things that the phone doesn’t have settings for yet, for example I found all the notification sounds to be quite loud/too long but I like having something more than just vibration so I loaded a quieter one and set it to a lower volume.
Is HereMaps the same as Here We Go maps and navigation?
Thanks!
I think this is what I mean, this looks like the app
I have Magic Earth but I see that many of you recommend HereWeGo maps. Which one is better and why?
You may want to sideload each of them and see which one you like better!
Is it possible to sideload Telegram and will Telegram work without issues?
Yes. Telegram works.
This is my Kompakt Setup***:
*** Minomo Launcher, Signal and FUTO keyboard Sideloaded.
I am so pleased with this phone! The only thing that bothers me is the lock screen. Please make it blank and without the padlock! (Yes, I’m the one still nagging about it everywhere on this forum. )
And for a side note/tip for those who use the native music player: convert full music albums from YouTube to MP3, and you won’t have the problem of a endless track list and uncategorized songs. This makes the player feel like the old days when we actually listened to whole albums.
