Maps request: set starting location

I think this is the main omission preventing the maps app from being practically useful. It shouldn’t really be necessary to explain why, but in short, it is essential for route planning, estimating how much time a trip would take, finding alternative routes, etc etc. The app feels like being served a great meal, but without being given a fork.

I’ve had to sideload various map apps (sequentially), but all of them have at least one major flaw, such as being infested with trackers, crashing when trying to set up voice navigation, or having UI which is unintelligible on e-ink.

I’m half of a millimetre away from ditching these sideloaded apps, but I can’t do it before I’m able to set the starting location on the native one. This should be an easy fix, and it’s honestly a bit puzzling why it’s not already a feature.

I agree that this is a very important issue to address. App is very well designed for the display, but setting the origin using only A-GPS makes the app unusable for me.

Yesterday for unknown reasons, Maps would not update my current location. I needed to enter my address manually to begin bike navigation, but was unable to do so.
Thanks for reading this feedback, @urszula and rest of the dev team!

I’m passing this request on.

Just to confirm that we’re all on the same page- you’re looking for the ability to manually set the starting point of a journey in Mudita Maps. You would like the marked field to be editable, am I correct in my understanding?

Yes, fantastic!

I always prefer to use the native apps whenever it’s practically possible (I switched to the native keyboard today), so I’m looking forward to the next maps update!

Oh and the option to set multiple waypoints would also be great.

I will pass this on to the team

for me first (more important) is to be able to choose starting location. Next a multiple waypoints

The team is aware of this. I’ve passed it on. Unfortunately, I do not know when it will be implemented.
