I set up my lock screen today and must have typed my regular lockscreen password incorrectly. I have no idea what I set the password to as a result! Now I’m locked out of my phone! I can’t access anything and from surface research I don’t think you can factory reset while it’s locked.
When this menu appears use the volume up key to scroll to Recovery mode <<==
The screen flashes very slow here so be patient, it might look like it doesn’t work at first.
When <<== is at recovery mode then press the volume down button.
Thanks so much! I’m still struggling… Not sure if a step is missing between step 3 and 4.
I get to the menu and select recovery mode by pressing volume down. The screen goes to the black mudita screen for about 2 or so minutes before turning on and starting up as usual. then I try again and again with the same results.
I’ve yet to see the no command screen sadly. Am I doing something incorrectly?
Make sure in step 3 you’re just scrolling with volume up, the volume down is for entering. Make sure to wait up to 10 seconds when moving between the steps: Recovery, Fastboot and Normal. It might look like you’re at recovery but you might be at Normal (because the screen takes a long to refresh here).
When the menu looks like this
Recover <<==
Press volume down, you should see the mudita logo flash once or twice and it will take you to No command screen.
Hey! I really appreciate the help. I just tried again twice giving it a generous 10 second count. The first time it loaded already pointing at Recovery Mode. Same results unfortunately. Not quite sure why mine is struggling. I’ll chat with technical support about it when they have time for me.
I’m not sure why it’s not working for you, I tried again just to make sure and it goes straight to No command screen. If you have a different firmware/update than me might be the cause.
My phone is fresh out of the box, zero updates. My off screen looks completely different to yours too (mine being completely black)… So perhaps that is the case.
I’m sure your help will be useful to future folk looking for advice on this issue. So your efforts and knowledge have and will continue to be invaluable.
