Got it. Thanks for the explanation. I know that lockscreen customization is on the roadmap for next year & Kompakt users will be able to personalize your locked display:
I will ask the team what’s included & if they can provide some specifics.

Wasn’t this supposed to come this fall? I assume it got pushed to next year, still disappointing.
Yes, the roadmap changed based on the MuditaOS K 2.0 release in November. Based on feedback from our community, our team decided to make those changes to the roadmap:
Thanks for the update, @urszula !
Just one more thought — I wonder if this could actually be a relatively simple feature to implement, without waiting for the full lock screen customization planned for 2027?
I mean, even just 5–10 nice built-in illustrations to choose from for the actual sleep screen would already be great. No need for custom uploads, widgets or anything complicated.
Since the phone already displays a static image when sleeping, I’d imagine replacing it with a few selectable ones might not be that difficult for your developers (although I could be completely wrong here!).
It also feels like kind of sad not to make more use of the E Ink sleep screen. A few nice illustrations, maybe some Japanese or Zen-inspired ones, could look really beautiful and fit Mudita’s whole vibe perfectly. And all that without any additional hardware or an app running in the background.
And as I mentioned earlier, I really think the visual impact could be quite significant, both for existing users and for people discovering the Kompakt for the first time.
It just feels like one of those small software changes that could make a big difference. ![]()
I mean, doesn’t it look beautiful? ![]()
How can we do something like this? Im using the Katapult launcher from you. Is this possible using an additional launcher, or do you have to tinker with the settings a bit more?
This screen is exactly what I would love!
Personally I would prefer to use MK as close to it comes from the makers rather than sideloading things, just my personal preference although I have added whatsapp and use the Katapult launcher in an ideal world I would just utilise what the device had as much as possible
You can’t with a launcher or with settings. You can install KompaktOS (LineageOS 23.2) ROM that I’ve built. Or wait for Mudita to implement this feature.
With Katapult there’s a “Screensaver feature”.
This allows you to add wallpapers and it will stay on, but it will use quite a bit of battery.
Okay, thank you so much for help.
I have to admit, that looks really beautiful!
I can definitely see the appeal of having a few minimalist illustrations to choose from, especially on an E Ink screen.
That said, one thing worth keeping in mind is that what seems like a relatively small change from a user’s perspective isn’t necessarily a simple change from a development perspective.
Even something like offering a selection of preloaded images involves more than just swapping one picture for another. There’s the implementation itself, integration with the existing system, testing, and making sure everything works reliably without introducing unexpected issues.
I’m not saying this particular feature would be especially complicated, since that’s something our developers would need to assess. However, every addition requires development resources, and we have to prioritize those resources carefully.
As I mentioned earlier, we’ve already adjusted our roadmap to make room for the features planned for MuditaOS K 2.0. That means some other features, including lock screen customization, have been scheduled for 2027.
I absolutely understand the enthusiasm, though! It’s a lovely idea, and I appreciate you taking the time to illustrate what you have in mind. ![]()
Hello. Could you share the original image used as an example in your post? Thanks a lot. In return, I am currently using this wallpaper solely for the screensaver (the “Katapult” launcher); the upper part of the image is white in the center to make room for the clock and other widgets.
