Like what I see so far

Love the demo that was released with the Kickstarter. Using the notes app and typing looks very seamless. Seems like texting will be very smooth. I also saw a chess app lol. Just wondering are these all the apps in the video? Will there be a podcast app? Not a deal breaker for me but would be nice

‘For advanced users who prefer using existing apps, Mudita Kompakt allows you to manually install compatible APK files, including messaging apps like WhatsApp or Signal. Please note that sideloading third-party apps may affect device performance and void the warranty. Additionally, some apps may require Google Services, which could limit their functionality on the device.’

This has me a bit concerned, for me there will be a temptation to add apps that are distracting

Probably a reason why I won’t purchase it. Although it’s nice to have the option, I think it’s definitely a slippery slope.

This is how I feel most of the time. I don’t want to have the option. I want just tools without distractions.

Have you pledged for a Mudita phone? I’m guessing you have since you do reviews on YouTube. I’m excited fo see your thoughts on the LP3 when it comes, and later, a good comparison.

But there is no playstore for you to download any distractions, you would have to sideload and that is a bit of friction which is enough to make you not want to do it, but I see where you are coming from, if there is an option to do people can slip into old habits, ultimately it will come down to the person, for me I know I have bad tech addiction so I don’t know which way I will go, but I love the look of the phone I will not lie

Yes. I plan to review the Mudita Kompakt. Will it be my personal phone? No. Can it replace my work phone? For sure.

lol I am waiting for the day you choose another phone besides the light phone, I always wonder what will it take to make Jose change LOL, just fascinating to me lol

Sideloading takes 2 minutes. Download the file, transfer to phone, install. I don’t mind the ability to sideload, but it’s a bit too easy in this case. For example, the Light Phone 2 technically has the ability to sideload, but to use those apps you lose all functions on Light OS and cannot use the phone as it was intended. If this amount of friction will be the same on the Mudita Kompakt, I will be glad. If not, it’s just another smartphone looking device that can have distracting apps.

Do you see LP3 possibly being your primary phone? Or replacing it?

Thats true, hmmmm I will have to really think about it cause I have a bad tech addiciton that I have under control thanks to the Light phone 2, and I don’t want to slip back into old habits…lots to think about

I mean, it’s a good thing if José stays true with his Light Phone. It means he has found a phone that works the best for him and his lifestyle. Same can be said about Kompakt for someone else. Everyone is different and not one size fits all.

Probably. But I am keeping the LP2 around just because I like the size of that phone. My set up in 2025 will most likely be the LP3 and the Kompakt, but I have to wait and see what can be done on the Kompakt and if the 3GB of RAM will be good enough for the apps I need for work.

This is correct. People need to assess their lifestyles and find the best device for them

Yeah comes down to the person, a person that is has self control because they don’t suffer from addiction the Kompakt would be perfect for them, we all just have to find what is best for us, no right or wrong

I’m just happy that the Mudita has made waves in their OS compared to that Balance phone that got discontinued. Talk about a basic idea turned into a poor execution. No wonder that phone couldn’t make it past their Kickstarter.

For me its funny now the Lp2 is frustrating me after seeing all the LP3 and kompakt videos with their screens so much bigger lol, i use to not mind typing on the Lp2 now I hate it lol

Yeah Mudita has a background of success on Kickstarter they know what they are doing, only sort of flop was Pure, yes it was made, but there were so many delays and the phone could not work properly in North America

I’m currently using an iPhone 8 and will be replacing it with the LP3. I’ll keep my iPhone around to use when needed, but I’m wondering if I should look into eventually replacing my iPhone with the Kompakt or not. In some ways, it doesn’t seem helpful since the Kompakt lacks the parts of the smartphone I’m keepin the iPhone around for, so maybe not. I use an iPad at home as my computer currently, so, I already have a smart device. I guess replying to you has helped me see and confirm that I probably don’t need the Kompakt in my life.

Well, I was just comparing the Kompakt to the Balance phone. Mudita has succeeded with their clocks, as far as I’m concerned. Im very happy with my Harmony 2 and can’t wait for more updates in the future. I agree with the Pure. Hopefully Kompakt will be better. I will say that it does help that the LP3, even though is made overseas, is founded here in the U.S. it sort of means it has to work here regardless and phones are a bit more complicated than clocks since it requires different bandwidths.
