Kompakt with Koodo - Call quality issues

Hi,

Is anyone else having call quality issues with Koodo. With my degoogled Pixel, using the same SIM card on the same network, I never had issue with call quality. But with the Kompakt, the sounds cuts off, and I sometimes lose the connection. I’ve mostly tested it indoors right now. I will have to test more outdoors as well.

When I contacted support I was told this:

Step 1: Ensure your phone is updated to the latest Mudita OS version (currently mentioned is 1.3.0). This version includes improvements to audio stability that may help with call quality. [This seems to be the Pure version, but I do have the latest Kompakt OS version]

Step 2: Test the sound quality during calls with any Bluetooth devices, as improvements in Bluetooth audio stability were included in the recent updates. Disconnect any Bluetooth devices to rule out connectivity issues. [I was not testing over bluetooth, because I can’t connect to bluetooth right now unless using a sideloaded app - but I did disconnect everything just to make sure.]

Step 3: If you haven’t already, toggle Offline+ mode to see if it affects the call quality positively. This mode disables all communication features and may help in identifying if the issue is network-related. [Tested this, but I didn’t notice any change.]

Step 4: Ensure that the VoLTE option is correctly configured in your phone settings. Review the settings to confirm everything is enabled as needed for optimal call quality. [VoLTE is enabled and I tried both cellular and wifi calls]

Step 5: If issues persist, consider consulting your service provider to ensure that the network coverage indoors is adequate for the Kompakt phone. [I’m not sure what they mean by this. My network coverage indoors is great with all other phones we have in this house : Pixel, Light Phone III, etc., so I’m not sure how it would not be “adequate” for the Kompakt. I did ask them what they meant by that, but I have not received an answer yet]

Has anyone else had this issue and found a solution?

Thanks for your help!

Oh that sucks, sorry you are having issues, I am happy I never went back to koodo. I am currently using the Kompakt on Fizz mobile in the greater toronto area, I was also using it on Lucky mobile and I had no issues with calling. I am switching over to freedom next month as they have a Canada, USA, mexico plan, and I will be travelling there end of next month.

Hopefully this is sorted out for you because I know the pure had issues with Koodo, mainly from what I remember calls work perfectly in and out, along with incoming texts, but outgoing texts never worked so it make the Pure unuseable

I’m using koodo, and have so far not had issues with call quality. I’ve only had the phone for a week so far though…
Are you somewhere with limited coverage?

I’m within the urban core of Ottawa-Gatineau, so we have good coverage.

Thanks, that’s good to know. I’d rather stay with Koodo so I guess I’ll call them to see what could be the issue. But my partner has Fizz, so I’ll also test to see if that works better.

I live in the north-west of Quebec (Abitibi) and I have no problem with phone call-quality and I’m using Koodo.
