I have been daily driving my Kompakt for a while now and it is getting the job done but there are some things missing to make the experience more practical.
Bugs:
- Race condition between opening up a SMS chat and pressing the three dot menu. Currently if you open up a chat and press the three dot button without waiting it will open the menu and close it forcing you to press it again.
- Fingerprint reader is constantly locking out because you are not applying time based throttling to the sensor reads. This is an absolutely classic issue and should be fixed right away.
Functionality:
- A timer is missing.
- A stop watch is missing.
- The ability to email or transfer somehow links I have received to my computer. LightOS handles by email forwarding them.
- Local speech to text which is what I have on my old Android phone via FUTO keyboard.
- Phone app should have a tab on it for the current call. I had a few calls where I couldn’t figure out how to get back to the current call for menus or to unmute etc but you have to press the phone icon in the top left of the screen.
- Ability to reassign the superfluous tray capacitive button to switch to the last app you had open or allow you to open a specific app. I have to press multiple things just to get to the thing I need to do or go back to my music or my calendar or whatever. With the really slow e-ink screen it’s unnecessary friction
- Ability to fully refresh the screen as sometimes it’s almost impossible to see a picture I need to see clearly that someone has sent because I have no way to force a refresh. If you open a picture you should force a full refresh and also any time you make a zoom change probably. Either manual ability exists or you really design it well so you don’t need it.
- Ability to tweak e-ink screen settings as some things are just super hard to see currently.
- Make required swipe distances less long because it’s so long often I undershoot and have to retry.
- Add a settings app in the tray as lots of times I end up there due to muscle memory but it ain’t there.
- Connected devices screen has 50% of it’s screen real-estate wasted you should show a list of the most common devices right there, or at least the last connected device as well as the bluetooth power button. Unnecessarily forcing me into multiple sub menus and multiple presses.
