Kompakt: EXT4 support?

hey there!
it doesn’t seem like the Kompakt can read my SD Card with filesystem EXT4.
can the Kompakt be upgraded to be able to r/w EXT4, please? this is primarily due to filename restrictions with the fat filesystems.
thank you!

@nico144 Thank you for reaching out. I’ve asked our team about this & they said that Mudita Kompakt does not support the EXT4 filesystem for microSD cards.
While EXT4 is an excellent and robust filesystem for the internal storage of Linux-based systems, it is not a recommended standard for portable, removable media like SD cards. This is primarily due to its journaling features, which can cause unnecessary wear on flash memory, and its limited compatibility with non-Linux devices.
For maximum compatibility, performance, and longevity with removable storage, the industry standard and the filesystem we officially support on the Kompakt is exFAT.
The exFAT filesystem is specifically designed for flash memory and supports the full range of modern microSD card capacities, including cards larger than 32GB, up to a theoretical maximum of 2TB.
To use your microSD card with the Kompakt, you will need to reformat it to the exFAT filesystem. You can do this using any modern Windows, macOS, or Linux computer.
Regarding your request for an upgrade, we do not have plans to add support for the EXT4 filesystem. Our focus is on maintaining stability and compatibility with the universal exFAT standard for removable media.
We hope this explanation is helpful. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
