It's mushroom picking season in Poland....and obviously, there is a Kompakt app for that!

You have no idea how excited I am for this app

Mushroom picking is something my dad & I do together. It’s something that he taught me when I was growing up. We would drive to Wisconsin and spend the day just picking mushrooms.
My favorites are slippery jacks / butter mushrooms.
Any mushroom pickers on the FORUM?

your dad was a fungi  fun-guy

I went camping near Yosemite with a girl I hardly knew and she loved to get stoned, we got very stoned and she took me mushroom hunting, that was a memorable experience.

Mushrooms season is just kicking off on the south west coast of Canada!

Ate the first early chanterelles a few weeks ago.

@wander has been on a pretty epic rip churning out apps that have greatly enriched my experience using the kompact.

So cool I always forget you grew up in the States! Do you still visit there often?

Oh wow. Chanterelle season in Poland generally runs from June to October

We love them so much, we even have chip flavors with them  :brown_mushroom:

Very rarely. When my parents lived there, I would go now & again for holidays, like Thanksgiving (cuz we don’t have that holiday here) but now, my parents retired & moved back, the visits are few & far between.

@urszula I love to mushroom hunt! This app I developed is really just to help us slow down and notice each feature of a mushroom as we work to key it out. In that way it isn’t exactly a mushroom identification app, although it does offer guidance there. It helps us capture the moment of mushroom connection and bring it home to further examine (or upload to iNaturalist–coming soon!).

Consider linking directly to my github here, GitHub - wanderwildwood/kinokocho: Mushroom Journal — a field journal for a mushroom you found: it records what you can see and never tells you what it is. · GitHub, for a safer suggestion for others to follow here (that site is sketchy and just scrapes other peoples apps to claim as their own).

And thanks for the appreciation @jawn, I’ve really been on fire adopting tools I’ve been interested in, or already some that already existed, but needed a eink tuning.
