Is Mudita Center necessary?

I’ve just received my Kompakt and am trying to get it to connect with Mudita Center but nothing seems to work, after trying all the “tips and tricks”. However, I do see that I can mount the internal storage and transfer files just with my normal file manager. I can read e-books that I put in the Documents folder, and anything I put in the Audiobooks, Podcasts, and Music directories will show up in the Music app. Photos can be copied as well. What else does the Mudita Center do? If I were to never use Mudita Center, and instead only use my native file manager, what would I be missing out on? The phone app says I can use Mudita Center to import contacts, but at this point it’s honestly easier to manually enter my contacts than to try to get Mudita Center working.

I am curious about this, too, since I cannot reliably connect to Mudita Center.

Mudita center allows some kind of configuration backup and was, I believe, really important for those migrating from the first Mudita phone to the Kompakt.

But how do you manage to mount it? Do would make my life a lot easier than using the Mudita Center! (which works well for me)

I’m on Linux, using Ubuntu and GNOME, so mounting instructions might vary depending on your OS or distribution. As long as I have unlocked the Kompakt while connected to my laptop, it shows up as a device in GNOME’s file manager in the left sidebar. Click it and use it like it’s an attached USB drive.

Strange, it doesn’t appear for me in Thunar (Debian). But any USB stick appear normally.

I finally got Mudita Center working! You have to enable USB debugging on your Kompakt first. Follow this video on how to do that: - https://youtu.be/pjJHicALcyc?si=qEA0kpdW5YfHj282
Once debug mode is enabled, unlock your phone, connect it to your computer, and then start Mudita Center, in that order.

Yes but it doesn’t work while Mudita Center is open. Close the Center and it becomes available to mount again.
