Nothing happens after tapping 7 times.
Did you go to Settings > System to see Developer options afterwards? There’s no sign that it showed up from what I remember.
No, I didn’t. But it had been working this whole time! Thanks!
Now I’m having problems with installing the APK. Whenever I click on “Install APK”, the “open” button is grey, I can’t click on it and nothing appears, although I have installed Aurora and F-Droid.
How can I hide the developer options once Ive tapped it 7 times and it becomes visible?
To turn off developer options, go to Settings > System > Developer Options, and turn off the toggle for “Use developer options”, and then go back out of the settings. It should now be returned to normal
Thanks fo this post, sucessfully sideloaded Proton mail and my local transportation app. I just had to install a different browser on my mac. Neither Firefox nor Duckduckgo support web adb.
You may want to check if your browser can run webadb. From their website : " only Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera) support the WebUSB API."
Then you need to click the “connect” (trennen on your screenshot) button and everything should work.
I have Spotify downloaded but can’t get past the Capcha. Even when I think I have answered correctly, it just hangs on the page saying I need to verify I’m a human. Ideas?
Sorry if this is obvious or previously stated, but how can I open any .apk docs on Mac? I’m finding this process a little daunting and above my pay grade tbh but I’m trying lol
You should be able to download and save .apk files, but you won’t be able to open them on a Mac. The .apk is actually the app itself so it will only open and run on an Android device. So as long as you can see the file saved in your Downloads (or somewhere else) you should be ready for side loading. Then after side loading it will run as an app on your phone.
Not sure if that answers your question or if you were meaning something different?
Thank you, this was helpful. I was able to download abd thorugh hombrew. Strangely, though, while yesterday I was able to access developer options, today I can’t. My guess is that it is still open (I never did anything intentional to close it) but I can’t see it anymore. I’ve tried reseting and nothing.
Did you try the multiple-taps (7 taps?) method to re-enable Developer mode?
That’s what I’ve been trying, yeah.
Nevermind, I got it sorted!
Glad you got there in the end!
I think it would be useful for Mudita to add a “sideload” option to their mudita center software (even if it’s just a hidden or experimental option or something). This would save everybody who wants to sideload an app or two from having to jump through these hoops!
@aaksequitur Is there an option of a voice option for Captcha? I had that option in one of the apps I sideloaded (can’t remember which one)
