I'm gonna stay with MK (after a week with LP3)

Before I had received LP3 I thought that Kompakt is not “polished” enough, meaning the software is not stable enough, but…
after a week with LightPhone 3 I must say that Kompakt is a great device with a really stable software (with some obvious issues but not so major)

During the first week of playing with LP3 I have experienced:

  • constant UI crashes,
  • restart LOOPs
  • Undefined calls (no ID presentation at all) for the Play P4 carrier.
  • no 5G (the ad says it works for Play P4 - it does not)
  • tons of major bugs like:
  • WiFi does not wake up when the phone restarts
  • Hotspot does not work most of the time (no internet connection)
  • Battery info is not refreshed correctly (you need to unplug it from the source to see the right battery info
  • Camera says Device Failure (twice already the hard reset is needed)

There is also a problem with completely unresponsive support (overloaded). I’m sanding the videos with issues every day, and got so far just one response from some tech lead asking me to turn on Verbose Logs. Well, this is not a TEST ON PRODUCTION, god damn it :stuck_out_tongue:

There are two pros for LP3 over MK:

  • the build quality and materials
  • the camera itself (great pics)

but its not enough. I’m asking the support to return the device

@ovy Thanks so much for sharing this detailed comparison! We’re really glad to hear that Mudita Kompakt feels stable and reliable in your daily use.
Of course, we know there’s still room for improvement, and we’re working hard on upcoming updates based on community feedback. Your experience means a lot to us and helps keep us moving in the right direction. :green_heart:

I appreciate the LP3 comparison. Thanks.

I’ve used the Kompakt since it arrived in June and really appreciate how calm the device is. This week I switched to the Light Phone 2 as my daily driver and will give it a few weeks to see how it stacks up to the Kompakt.

Immediately I prefer the size of the LP2. It’s so small it just disappears. The voice-to-text is also now a ‘must have’ feature for me. I do not like typing to text and sometimes calling isn’t an option (spouse in an appointment, etc.). Finally, call / sound / speaker quality. With the Kompakt cranked to maximum volume there are times I can’t hear clearly if there’s ambient noise. After using the LP2 I notice how quiet the speaker is and I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about this.

That’s all for now.
