E-Ink Mode is coming. It needs to.
Not just for e-reader users, but for accessibility, reduced eye strain, distraction-free reading, and better battery life on low-power displays.
Every app should expose a simple, predictable E-Ink Mode that minimizes colors, animations, gradients, transparency, and unnecessary visual noise.
It would be even better if it followed the Mudita guidelines, which I personally like, but at the very least it should be optimized for E-Ink displays.

Just to make sure I understand what you’re suggesting, would you like to see a system-wide E‑Ink display mode in MuditaOS K that could be applied to sideloaded apps, or are you proposing a set of E‑Ink design guidelines that developers should follow when creating apps for devices such as Mudita Kompakt?
Some visual elements are controlled by the individual app rather than the operating system, so it would be helpful to understand how you imagine this working in practice.
If there were a way to enforce something like this at the OS level, that would obviously be even better. However, given the limitations of Android and how much control individual apps have over their own UI, I realize that’s probably unrealistic.
My post is more of an appeal to developers in general: to recognize that not everyone enjoys interfaces full of colors, transitions, animations, and visual effects. Just as Light Mode and Dark Mode became common options, I’d love to see apps offer a truly minimal E-Ink-friendly mode.
In a way, it reminds me of the old high-contrast themes that operating systems used to provide: simpler, cleaner, more functional, and often more accessible. Not necessarily because someone has an e-ink device, but because some people simply prefer a calmer visual experience.
