Hello, I’m just wondering if there is a possibility to activate VoLTE at the current state of development? Had a phone call yesterday and totally missed the speech quality of VoLTE. Somehow I have read that Mudita Kompakt does support this for some specific carriers, but I do not know where to find a list or so and if this will be extended in future.
For me, I do not see any VoLTE option in the phone settings. My carrier is 1&1 Germany, running on Vodafone 4G cell phone network. Thank you for any information. I would suggest to add this to the FAQ on the website
Do you mean VoLTE and VoWLAN? Those two are supported, works for me (Poland, local carrier). I tend to believe both are about sending voice via data transmission mechanisms - so it is VoIP, no?
@MicKitten I am asking the team for help. Meanwhile, I just want to make sure (because I’m not familiar with German cell networks) that your network (or plan) supports WiFi calling & has VoLTE.
Also, are you updated to 1.3.0?
Yes I am on Mudita OS K 1.3.0 and the tariff supports VoLTE, it is part of the contract and worked already with other mobile phones on the same SIM card before. I’m not sure if WiFi calling is supported, I wil try to find out through the contract details. Anyway, I’m more interested in using VoLTE.
@MicKitten We did some digging & we found out that 1&1 is in the process of building its own VoLTE network (they don’t have one yet), BUT they are using O2’s resources for VoLTE. So this may be the issue with your connection.
Thank you for the research. I dialed * # * # 4 6 3 6 # * # * and got the following response. I think “VoLTE provisionised” should be enabled, but first the “IMS registatration” state should be registered. On the 1&1 website they say that users can easily activate VoLTE in the phone settings. No restrictions mentioned there. From what I have read through several forums (it is obviously a very common problem), the smartphone manufacturer has to implement the VoLTE functions for each carrier in their firmware. So maybe this one is just not supported from your side?
I will do some further investigation later and also call the carrier and ask them for support. Have a good night so far.
