GPS and meteo app

Hi everybody,

I have a problem with my Mudita Kompakt I receive 2 days ago. The GPS is unavaible. When I try the map app with “my position” an error message appear ( Iautorised the app toi access my localisation).

Same with meteo app when I try to see my location but without error message, only searching…

Has someone already this issue ?

By the way, how can I change the defaut location for the meteo that is in Poland ?

  • perhaps turn on options for weather and maps

We just got this version 1.6 and it may be a bug.

Thanks that’s working. But I don’t really understand what’s the feature of A-GPS if it doesn’t work without A-GPS…

@NicoC Mudita Kompakt is a privacy-focused phone. The GPS module is receive only. This means:

  • A receive-only GPS only listens to satellites.
  • It calculates your position locally on the device and does not transmit that data anywhere.
  • This ensures that your location stays private, because there’s no automatic sending of coordinates to external servers.

This can sometimes take a bit to work and you need a clear view of the sky for it to work.

In the last update, we add an additional, opt-in feature of A-GPS, which means assisted gps.

On most smartphones, GPS is not just receive-only. It often works with Assisted GPS (A-GPS), which uses:

  • Cellular towers,
  • Wi-Fi hotspots,
  • Bluetooth beacons,
  • And cloud services (if you are connected).

That makes it faster, but not as private.
