A great example on how dependent mankind has become on internet and technology. But mankind will forget this and move on, until next technical disaster will strike . :smirk:

This just proves that one big tech company has way too much influence over the tech landscape of the world.

I can agree with that!

There will be far worse moments to come I am sure. Outages for longer and spread across the globe. Let’s not make ourselves so reliant on technology. Big tech companies assume we all want to be online 24/7 and extol the virtues of ‘convenience’. But was this outage ‘convenient’? Haha.

Also, can we see Big Tech’s days being numbered? I mean the Googles etc. As more and more AI models flood the market, will they begin to dominate?

Courtesy of XDA, some more companies we rely heavily on -

  • Okta manages cloud logins and could cause havoc if it goes down, impacting access to work accounts globally.
  • Fastly powers popular sites like Reddit and Spotify, so an outage could make many websites inaccessible.
  • ServiceNow runs help desks and IT support - an outage could lead to chaos, impacting countless companies.
