There are couple of screens with intense ghosting. I’d assume that this is a software bug, as other views are ghosting free.
@ovy I will pass this on to the team, however, from what I understand, it’s completely normal. What I’ve been able to do is if you want to force it, if you lock your screen and then unlock the Kompakt. That should remove the “ghosts”.
i mean ghosting is obviously normal for eink, but the automatic cleaning procedure should remove the artefacts. And in most cases Kompakt does it.
I think I saw in the V1.1 release notes that the full screen refresh was removed for locking and unlocking to increase the speed of unlocking. I wonder if that this is an unintended side-effect of that. Perhaps that should be made user-configurable in settings?
This is a major issue, I received my phone today and it isn’t usable like this, this isn’t an accepted eink side effect…
Take a picture using the camera and you can clearly see the whole thing over/under icons, then navigate to a page and you see that burnt into the black it’s ridiculous.
its exactly how eink displays work, but what is the actual issue you’re having? maybe you could post a photo.
i think there might have been some suggestion of implementing full screen refresh options in the future im not sure. but its normal that eink displays do not completely refresh the screen.
i know the map app does a full refresh after it settles in a location and when you leave the app likely because of the detail needed on the screen. maybe it would be useful to add this to the camera/gallery app when leaving the app. but this would not be a good idea to have across the whole phone, doing a full refresh of the screen on every new page or app would significantly impact battery life and user experience.
generally i expect you wont really notice it at all after a while, as with normal use of the phone locking the screen triggers a full refresh anyway.
For me there is only very little ghosting. But I am quite used to e-ink screens, so maybe I am also just used to it.
Could we have a manual clean button in settings or something please? I do not know if it is possible but I would also like to have a setting for different refresh speeds like onyx is doing it with their tablets? Because I would prefer to use the slowest refresh rate but the cleanest image for everyday use. Usually you do not need higher refresh rates unless you watch videos or scroll a lot.
The ghosting is severe, after using the phone for few minutes the background is grey not white any longer… Why would I want to see my messages and images burnt into the home screen??
Even unlocking the phone I can see the mudita lock screen logo overlaid on another logo it’s stupid.
Can you please take a photo of it? Just so we/Mudita team can see if it´s normal or you have a faulty unit?
I tried volume down + power to screenshot but nothing happens.
I think they meant for you to take a photo of the screen with a separate camera
Just in case, it did save a screenshot, go to your camera app and in the left bottom corner you have your pictures
Of course it wont, i know it and didnt say it will
@sgil Yes, please, could you post a photo so that we can see it. Thank you. I will forward this to our team and see what they have to say on the topic.
I think maybe e-ink phones are not for you
