Mudita Kompakt is the only project I’ve backed. I’ll be honest: when it arrived, I was disappointed with the undercooked software. That said, the phone is getting better with every update and I am glad I didn’t sold it right away. Thanks to the software development team for the work done so far.
For future updates, it would be nice to have the option in the Phone app to edit the call history; in the Music app, to view songs by artist and album; and an option to force-stop unnecessary apps. One feature I’d love to see is the ability to use the notification light for missed calls, messages, and apps like WhatsApp.
Music Player:
Play albums in correct running order either by reading tranck number from ID3tag or by playing from file name
Phone:
Ability to asign a dedicated sim card for each contact ie. sim1 for private contacts and sim2 for work.
Great if this would also apply to sms messaging.
Contacts:
Choice to show company info on lists and in the phone app.
It would be great if Mudita created a dedicated board where users can submit feature requests, and other users could vote on them. This would give the team a clear sense of what the community is actually looking for and help them prioritize development resources - assuming the ideas align with Mudita’s design principles (and it would also save @urszula a lot of work !). I recall that something similar was in place during the device’s development phase, but it doesn’t seem to be available now on an ongoing basis.
Funny I had the exact same thought a couple days ago while browsing the forum waiting for my phone to arrive, and noticed there were plenty of user feedback, but there is no central place to organize or keep track of them (I still feel grateful for the forum of course). I received my Kompakt yesterday so I am enjoying it while also finding plenty of room of improvement.
I really like my Kompakt, and I hope Mudita continues to succeed, but I am worried. I see plenty of posts on sideloading and customizations because of how limited it is, and to some people, Mudita’s OS’s limited functionality is exactly what they are looking for, but Mudita is also not providing the native functionality to personalize the phone for the rest of us to make the phone “our own”.
I hope one day to have the Kompakt my only phone, but for now, I will be keeping my smartphone as secondary to cover the rest of my use case.
Not sure if itˋs already possible since i am waiting for my Kompakt to arrive, but havenˋt seen it on pictures until now: the possibility to put text on the lock screen (like “if found please contact [email protected]” for example) is pretty cool/helpful i think!
Seems this page is not up to date, since some features already are in the 1.4.0 version released a few weeks ago.
A simple timer application should be useful…
And why not a gallery ? Even if the e-ink screen does not render pictures very accurately, I would like to review them without going through the camera app.
Contacts:
Add a “search name/nickname”:
I miss being able to search by nicknames, such as Mom and Dad.
Contacts from SIM:
Option to add contacts from the SIM card to Favorites.
Ability to edit contacts
Ability to add multiple phone numbers under the same name (currently, if I have multiple phone numbers under the same name on my SIM card, the contact appears separately for each phone number; and I can’t change this because I can’t edit contacts stored on the SIM card…)
I have just realized I needed the following feature
Ability to attach a file (not only pictures) to an SMS.
Here is my use case : my wife sent me tickets via SMS. A PDF file. As I decided NOT to sideload anything I couldn’t display it. But the SMS application doesn’t allow me to forward the file / send the file although it was properly downloaded. I needed the ticket but couldn’t send it to the person who was next to me so that he could open it for me.
Hi, guys! I have an issue about the new text suggestions feature. I do not use autocorrect on my kompakt, but I wanted to use the text suggestions, for special occasions. When I am bored, I type words and use the add to dictionary feature (I do not speak any language in the keyboard language list). But, now seriously! I do not want to be a hater, but when type a word that my phone learnt at the end of a sentence, it says its incorrect only because there is a dit at the end of it. I know its just a line under the word, but its kinda annoying.
@Thenormalfangorillaz I’m going to ask our team about this. However, could you please clear up something for me (to make sure that I understand your issues correctly) are you using any third-party keyboard apps?
