Dear Mudita Forum Manager(s),
For a company that posits the importance and sanctity of privacy, why does your forum use mandrillapp.com/tracking URLs when it sends emails to forum users?
Below is an example link:
I believe Mandrillapp double-encodes using base64, so users can’t easily manipulate the URL.
It may be that the choice of forum platform has this feature enabled by default, but I would ask you to disable it.
I happen to know that Scrivener’s forum ‘Literature & Latte Forums’ use the same forum platform and they don’t use any tracking in their emails to users.
It’s anathema to Mudita’s privacy mantra, against the ethos and serves little purpose.
Some may ask, “What harm is it doing?” Anyone who follows natural sciences understands that animals (particularly mammal) will retreat if they know they are being observed. They/we all have a primary aversion to it. Corporations that are willing to ignore/overlook such a fundamental primal instinct are deplorable. If people flock to Mudita, it’s because they expect them not to do this!
