SO my Mudita pure is coming on Monday. Today I went out and bought a Fizz mobile sim card, now these guys use Rogers network. When I previously had the pure the only way it worked for everything was on Chatr mobile which uses and is owned my Rogers towers. So I activated the sim on a 11 dollar a month plan. Now I use the light phone 2 and it has never worked on Rogers or any of the small companies it owns. But when I put my fizz sim card in the light phone it worked perfectly where normally in the past when I put in a chatr sim card it would never work on the light phone 2. This is amazing news because now when my pure gets here I think there is a solid chance it will work for everything calls texts in and out etc. Not sure what reception I will have in the basement I am hoping somehow it is like when I had my lucky mobile (owned by bell) sim in the Mudita where the signal was very strong for calls in the basement.
There is a very outside chance this could be the network the Pure finally works for me on so I am so excited but even if it doesn’t and I can’t use my pure in the basement I have no problem using my light phone 2 at night time in the basement. This is the perfect use case for me for next 6 months until the Kompakt gets here, I can use the Pure and if for any reason there are times where I can text out etc, I have a sim card tool on my key and I can easily slip it into my light phone which I will have in my light phone wallet case, so my daily carry will me my wallet with my light phone 2 in it and my mudita pure
There is also an option in Fizz mobile account to change the sim card to a volte sim card so I am guessing I should make the switch as the Pure is optimized for LTE in Canada
Super excited for Monday!
I will let you all know how it pans out
Interesting follow up, so I got a cheap 11 dollar plan from fizz changed my number over and it worked in the Light phone 2, this was very SHOCKING, because as I mentioned before Fizz uses Rogers networks, my light phone has never worked on any provider that is either owned by rogers or uses rogers towers. So I am actually very very hopeful the Fizz sim card will work perfectly on the Pure, because based on previous trials using Chatr and fido (owned by Rogers, the pure would work, not usually in the basement. Now mentioning the basement when I took my light phone down to the basement it worked, now my thinking is fizz switched from Rogers towers (because rogers and the other companies its owns sims never work in my basement) but I am guessing the fizz network switched to partner networks, because I googled info about Fizz and it says it primarily uses Rogers networks BUT when it can’t reach them it partners with Bell and telus, now my HOPE is when I put the fizz sim in the pure on Monday when it gets here that it will try to connect to bell which is has done very successfully for me in the past and I have been able to take make calls and get texts in the basement.
So i checked on my light phone and it seems in the basement it is connecting to Bell towers so logically that means for calls and incoming texts at least I would be able to get them in the basement with the pure as I did last year. Will test it out all Monday but so far so good, Fizz this is what it said on the Fizz website:
Fizz partners primarily with Rogers for roaming services in Canada. If Rogers isn’t available, Fizz should be able to connect to Bell/Telus towers . I went few days ago to Ontario, it was Rogers. In most parts of Ontario it’s Rogers, if you go further west, Alberta and BC it’s Telus.
One thing I have noticed people that call me say when they call me they don’t hear a dial tone from their end, yet I get the calls on my light phone 2, MY hope somehow all these different partner networks fizz uses is somehow going to get my pure working for everything, call, texts etc even in the basement, as mentioned before on lucky mobile (owned my bell) when I previously owned bell I could make and take calls EASILY in my basement, the Mudita pure had great signa;. My pure arrives Tuesday so will see what happens here is hoping to some good luck!
Let us know, but my exp is it easily loses signal in basements and low reception areas, and only way to get it back is by restart. I believe this is software solvable, but its EOL in sw support, so them a say, even it sells in outlet in near Kompakt price
I wish you the best possible experience. Mine was that its good sturdy well design and quite advanced dumb, in some aspects best so far. Black one looks sexy, white one elegant. Biggest flaw (beside well known Antenna) is really basic and underdeveloped software - notes with no editing in center, calendar with no events, mp3 player showing id3 tags of style, album etc. but unable to sort by them / no shuffle, repeat etc… sending new messages only via contacts, dark theme beta, no sound in medi app, not so quality speaker, no T9, BT file transfer that can read TXT or mp3 … and 6 months battery repair after that no option to replace it, no way hose.
I believe software could be worked on, but team does not believe in that anymore, and surely has more important things to do.
On bright side tethering works, VOLTE if enabled by provider, calls and messages are OK, included sounds and music are magnificent, eink stands OK on daylight, battery is quite good and phone feels good and hard to break.
I am just telling you good and bads., Will see, maybe old MOS gots developed some more, once MOS-K is stable and satisfactory. Lesson is simple: Its easier to mod Android, then to develop your own OS
