I have been reading this forum for a while now and over the last few months slowly working on my own “digital detox”
It took some time for me to realise what that meant for me, I had felt so frazzled by a small metal samsung rectangle and all the noise it brought, yet I kept going back to it. Checking, tidying, rearranging and the endless scroll and cycle of switching between apps. Every day.
I bought the Mudita Kompakt out of a desire to stop having what felt like the whole world and its thoughts in my hand. My Mudita sat there for a while, occasionally used until I got it set up how I needed, not much to do other than add whatsapp as thats how all my family & friends communicate (although I am feeling like perhaps whatsapp could be on my tablet along with other email and apps I need but only need to check every so often)
Anyway, this Mudita phone really has brought a sense of peace and its nice to just have a device that does what a phone should do, make calls and send a text. We don’t need to have constant access to the answers to questions our mind throws at us. Nor do we need constant access to a smartphone which has become a 2nd job itself in managing the pings and updates etc.
So I use my Mudita now as my primary device and I have my old Samsung device set up as my tablet for apps I need to access occasionally eg car charging at home, any banking I need to do and of course checking out here! I keep this device “bricked” so I don’t go down rabbit holes on websites like reddit or news sites as I found that when I deleted my social media accounts that the scroll just gets replaced.
Breaking habits around phone addiction takes time but its so worth it, and then you realise how much time you wasted staring at a little screen….in reality the world is a much more peaceful place without needing to know the opinions of strangers.
I am looking forward to the 2.0 update and now I am contemplating purchasing the Oasis set as perhaps my long held desire to create a meditation practice might be possible now.
