I got my Kompakt a few days into the new year, and I truly love it. Even things that would be cited as a flaw by other people, like high keyboard latency, I see as a plus (the necessarily slower speed of texting is giving me a chance to be more mindful and less impulsive about what I say, and is also encouraging me to actually call people and be present with them to talk). I haven’t taken the plunge and made it my only phone, as of yet, but that’s because I’m dragging my feet on updating contact info with doctors and banks and stuff.
That being said, there’s a feature that my old phone has that the Kompakt doesn’t: a software level Do Not Disturb mode. I’ve used DnD heavily, and day-to-day there are situations in which Offline+ is too much of a disconnect. At work, for instance, I need to be available to be reached via text or call, and I use a unique Do Not Disturb profile/schedule that blocks notifications from most contacts and all apps, but allows me to receive notifications for messages or calls from my co-workers. Similarly, I don’t want to take advantage of the options to block all unknown or hidden numbers, because I regularly receive messages from medical providers or business contacts that aren’t in my phone or hide their numbers, and I need to be able to receive them. I don’t know how easy it would be to implement something like this, since my old phone runs Android 13 and I know MuditaOS is a fork of Android 12, but it would be right in line with Mudita’s design philosophy to implement it.
