E book App and Music app and Maps

Hey everyone,
Coming from smart phones where everything is automatic how does one use these apps. How would I put an ebook on the ebook app? Or music on the the music app? Is it possible to put audiobooks without sideloading? Also will the maps have a real time gps for driving like with traffic?
Thanks!

If you’re anything like me, most of my services were streaming, etc.
Ebooks - I have a kindle. I can plug that into my computer and download the kindle books from that onto my computer using a free program called calibre. That same program converts the kindle format into whatever file format you might want such as epub. It’s easier than it sounds and there are plenty of videos and articles out there on how to do it.
Audiobooks - I’ve been a happy audible user for years. I’ve recently installed a program on my computer called libation. It syncs to you audible account and downloads the files where you can convert them into chapterised mp3 (basically named mp3s in chapter order in a file). These can be put onto the music app so you can play the audiobook like it’s a music album. I don’t really like the way that works on music apps (mainly for keeping your place when you come back to it) so recently found the app simple audiobook player which I plan to sideload. Really hope Mudita implement a similar native app at some point.
Music - again, plenty of software options there to rip CD’s on your computer or to download mp3’s.

All of the above is easier and less hassle than it sounds and once the software is on and you’ve used it a time or two it’s no issue.

As far as I can tell the Mudita Centre will allow you to easily add and manage your media to the phone.

Hope that helps :slightly_smiling_face:

I believe that Mudita has said that the Map app will use GPS to update your location on a map while you drive.

However, I believe that Mudita also has said that the Map app will NOT have traffic information.

I have tested the Magic Earth app on a deGoogled Pixel 6 in two modes:

  1. Without a SIM installed: Magic Earth does a good job of navigating in Car mode (but also has Pedestrian, Bike, and Truck modes).
  2. With an active SIM installed, Magic Earth can use traffic information retrieved over cellular data to identify and route my drive along the fastest route.

Magic Earth has a “Privacy first!” policy:

  • We do not track you.
  • We do not profile you.
  • We do not trade in your personal data; moreover, we do not have it.

I already have a Garmin DriveSmart 65 with HD Traffic that will route my drive according to live-traffic information that it receives over hybrid-digital (“HD”) radio broadcasts from FM radio stations here in the USA.

The Garmin knows nothing about any cellphone that I have and is my preferred way to navigate in my car.

However, I plan to test the Kompakt’s built-in Map app to see whether it would be worthwhile as a simple backup to my Garmin when I am in someone else’s car. And, I plan to install Magic Earth via APKpure to my Kompakt for a more practical backup driving-wise.
