Dream Log — Community App Review
Version: 0.1.1
Dream Log is for writing a dream down in the middle of the night without turning anything on.
Arm it before you sleep. If a dream wakes you, press a volume key without looking and say what you saw. One buzz means it is listening; press again, or stop talking, and two buzzes mean it has stopped. The screen stays dark and the phone stays locked the whole time.
While you sleep, the phone writes each recording down. In the morning the log shows each night’s dreams with the time they were told, and every one keeps its recording, because the phone mishears someone half asleep and the recording is the real one.
- A recording with nothing in it louder than the room is marked “Nothing said”.
- It disarms itself after twelve hours.
- There are no settings.
The speech recognition is whisper.cpp, running on the phone. It asks for the microphone and nothing else, and has no internet permission, so nothing it hears can leave the phone. The cost is size: the APK is about 65 MB, almost all of it the English speech model. On a Kompakt a minute of speech takes about half a minute to write down.
If you take it to bed, I would like to hear how the log read in the morning, and what it made of your mumbling. And as always: open to suggestions!
