I was under assumption the Kompakt is a full featured Android phone, I was very disappointed to learn I can’t program DND for the night, and I have to remember to put my phone offline every night. Are there any plans to add a Do not Disturb feature - or, really, enable what’s already built into Android?
This would be really helpful. I would like my phone to be muted every night during certain hours, but also allow calls from specific people (my wife, parents, etc.) so I don’t miss an emergency call while my phone is muted.
@uzytkownik I can understand the confusion, but no, Mudita Kompakt was never meant to be a full-featured Android phone. Think of it more like the calm cousin who left the group chat, turned off notifications, and moved to a cabin to write poetry about sunsets. He still keeps in touch, but is less online than the rest of the family (and he likes it that way).
That said, you’re not alone in wanting features like DND. Our team is aware that this is a requested function. I will ask them if they have made a decision about this feature.
Hi Urszula,
I have a similar request which brings up a bigger picture question: How does Mudita prioritize feature requests? I’m guessing the community could/would vote and rank features. As an example, I really need do not disturb as I get spam messages through the night. Meanwhile I have a family situation where real emergencies can present themselves at odd hours. So do I turn off my ringer and risk family members well being or do I leave the ringer on to wreck my sleep? I’m currently getting spam group texts every 20 min which I cannot block because of group text functionality not being robust enough to view contacts and block them. Surely I’m not alone in this need being essential for day-to-day usage of this amazing phone.
Apologies if there’s already a focused thread on features etc. If so, please advise.
I agree, this feature would be very helpful
Welcome to the Mudita Forum. We’re glad that you’re here.
I’m super glad that you asked this question & since you’re new to the forum it may not be super clear.
So, back when we launched Mudita Kompakt, we sent out surveys to every Mudita Kompakt owner asking about their first impressions with Mudita Kompakt. We did this because only a very small precentage of Mudita Kompakt owners are on the forum, so sending out a survey to everyone allowed us to get responses from a more representative sample. Our team complied those answers and that’s how they formed a roadmap for the initals couple updates.
I don’t believe that we are sending these surveys out anymore, however, I will follow up with the team about how they are prioritizing the next set of updates.
I figured out a way to do this but it’s quite cumbersome. Here’s how:
1 - In InkOS go to Extras > System Shortcuts and check the box next to “Settings Search”.
2 - In your App Drawer, open Settings Search and search for “Notification”, scroll and click on “Notification dot on app icon”.
3. Click on “Do Not Disturb” and toggle it “On”.
4. Click on “People” and then “Messages” (note: if you click on “Calls” it closes the settings menu) and then “Starred Contacts”.
5. Go into your Contacts and click on the star next to their name for people you want to allow to have access to message you while in DND mode (I enabled my home alarm company as an example as they send a text when there’s a home event).
Do I think I’ll ever use this? Yes until there’s a proper fix/feature but begrudgingly because it’s 4 clicks for me to enable/disable (Apps > Settings Search > Toggle DND > Home) and it doesn’t seem to work for calls (why this menu is inaccessible I do not know).
If anyone else has figured out a better way please do let me / the community know!
If its possible to make this toggle in settings, one would hope its a pretty easy add for the Mudita Team in an update. Thanks for the guide!
The team knows that the DND feature is something our users are looking to get. I’ve passed it on to the them before.
