Dear Mudita developers,
Thoughts on release 1.6.0, do you actually use the apps or are you just messing around? I am not mad, just amused. I still cannot really use this “phone” for more than an out going call phone and hotspot, I think I’ll keep hopeful one day…

I feel like this says more about you than the developers, I have been using it as my primary phone (only thing I cannot replace is my bank app) for over 3 months now. This has included a move abroad and a few other trips… What can you not manage to get working?

I have been daily driving the Kompakt for months, and almost every single issue you’ve complained about can be addressed with sideloading. Your criticism is neither constructive nor useful, and I fail to see why you keep making these posts.

@lowerflyinghornsparr - I feel like this says more about you than the developers… What can you not manage to get working? Contacts are limited to 2 phone numbers. Notifications?

Out of the box, stock user - Not sideloading.
If you are developers or Android fanatics (maybe) this is a wonderful device.

@smuch Can you please be more specific as to what issues you’re experiencing. Saying that you can’t use it, doesn’t really provide any real feedback. We’re always open to criticism of Kompakt (the FORUM is full of it), including strong criticism, but it needs to be specific enough for us to understand and act on.
Plenty of people here share frustrations, bugs, and feature requests, and that feedback is genuinely valuable because they explain what they were trying to do, what happened, and what they expected to happen instead. That gives us something concrete that we can investigate or pass on to the development team.
I am a Mudita Kompakt user & I use it everyday. I think the phone is great for what I need it for. I listen to podcasts, take pix, stay connected to friends & family etc. I use it when I travel.
And, of course, Mudita Kompakt isn’t going to be the right device for everyone. If it fundamentally doesn’t meet your needs, that’s also a perfectly reasonable conclusion to come to. Have you considered selling it?

Two phone numbers is intentional because this is a MINIMALIST device. Having an unlimited amount of numbers would kind of defeat the purpose, but that’s just me. What specific issues are you having with notifications?
Well, that’s actually useful context. 
If you like the Kompakt and want to keep using it, then help us understand what specifically is getting in the way. Saying the phone is ‘unusable’ makes it sound as though nothing works for you, which clearly isn’t what you mean. Concrete examples are much easier for us to investigate and pass on to the team.

As a minimalist I have very few phone contacts: Family, Friends, etc - all family and friends phone numbers are listed under that name. When they call I recognize them by voice.
I have a customers that call, their numbers are added to Customers contact.
Customers have a number, I don’t always have their name, I don’t need a separate contact for each.
Using the block unknown callers filters… too much for this minimalist to explain.
9+ having with notifications
Can you tell me how to clear my recent calls without using ADB or something non native to the phone because that seems to be the solution for clearing that number. Although the NA version may be different than the EU version because some EU users don’t have issues I have - in NA.
This issue with the ghost notifications showed up just this week (this was not a previous issue as far as I know), and as our team has acknowledged that they are investigating it.

I think it’s fair to day that being a minimalist does come with choices and sometimes, minimalism (especially digital minimalism) does not mean the same thing to everyone.

Question: How can I change phone to the default to “speaker” upon use?
Reason: This would help when the phone randomly pocket dials I would know someone is on the line.

I would suggest you install the brilliant inkos by Gezimos available through this forum. I cannot recommend it enough, It will address 80% of your issues. Many of your other problems can be addressed through sideloading a few alternative apps.
I use the Kompakt as my daily driver with a handful of apps sideloaded it’s a fantastic device.
If you have contacts with more than 2 contact numbers make another addition in your contacts eg David 1 and David 2 it’s a simple solution. Alternatively sideload a different dialer .
I have never come across someone wanting to use a single contact for multiple people all with different numbers, not really the way a contacts list is intended to work, but the best solution I could imagine would be to add each number to a single note and call it customers numbers

Second this, would have genuinely returned the phone if InkOS didn’t exist, it’s the only way it’s usable for me. With InkOS though it’s the best thing ever, don’t even remember what the stock launcher looks like

I am an out of the box user of the Kompakt, always will be - so sometimes I mention how much I like my stock applications on the Kompakt phone.

You can’t really complain about functionality, if you are not prepared to even try suggested solutions.
Why would you have all friends and family in your contacts as “friends and family” it’s rather a bizarre thing to do …. Perhaps you are playing a guessing game as to who is calling you 
. The reason there are only two numbers in each contact is most people have a land line and a mobile phone many no longer have the landline.
Anyway you can still use the stock apps with inkos if you wish to keep them … I recommend you try it, it is excellent.

I am a user, not a designer. The MudtaOS system works, 80% works, the 20% is what I need to work. I appreciate your advice, but it does not solve the problems.

My friend you don’t need to be a designer to make your device work for you.
When I bought Kompakt I bought a piece of Hardware, I didn’t buy into a lifestyle. It takes 2 minutes to solve one of your issues, for example the limit of 2 numbers per contact by installing Fossify Contacts app that lets you add as many numbers as you want per contact.
And then the Mudita Phone app will show you that contact with the numbers u added, I just tested with 4 (and I deleted Fossify contacts and the 4 numbers still remained).
There are some real absurd limitations in the Kompakt set by Mudita, that require their team to fix them because third-party apps don’t have the privileges to do so. But a lot of the issues are so simple to fix by yourself.
Installing a third-party app is not sin.

One thing I like is to be an advocate for other out of the box users. I don’t think all owners have discovered this forum - I hear some new users here find the options to add on apps a lifesaver too.
I am considering getting a second phone to use for such experimentation. I have hundreds of customers under the contact called “Customers” I do the same with SMS alerts - I may use the phone unlike others however the capabilities are on my old-folks non internet jitterbug phone, also based on some flavor of android, but it supports single SIM, Kompakt would eliminate the need for carrying 2 phones, one for business and one for family. I think MuditaOS is a bit too restricted but almost does all I need.
The call blocking options MuditaOS offers are perfect for my needs.
