There is nothing worse than accidentally deleting a long, well-thought-out text. Communication is the sole purpose of a cell phone; there should not be any simplification or lack of text communication features!
I’ve been using my Mudita Kompact for almost a year now. This has been one of the greatest pain points I’ve run into. If the features exist already, please let me know. I couldn’t find info in any related topics
I agree! The SMS message app is in need of improvement.
It seems there is influence to just install whatsapp or whatever- I certainly want to use this phone for communication without adding other products to make it work.
There are keyboards, more comfortable then the stock comfortabel, with the feautures you’re looking for (although I agree that this should already be available in the stock version along with a better keyboard.
I’m curious where you’re basing that on? Yes, there are several users with third party messenger, but Mudita is certainly not stimulating that. The option is simply there because a lot of people asked for sideloading. Whatever you install is your own responsibility. I have a mail client (manual syncing) but that’s the closest to an alternative messenger (except for a FOSS SMS client) that I’ll ever sideload.
Dear @anon43857326 I can recall alpha numeric pagers from the 1980s with similar functions as the SMS app. I am new to this forum but not new to communications products. I see many convos in the forum about developing and managing add ons and mods to the apps, that’s not my thing. Using this Kompakt as is, I’ll be using it out of the box, with current the MuditaOS version, thats it. Not gonna complicate things. It makes me happy, I like its limited capabilities and simplicity.
Sorry, but I don’t understand your reaction as answer to my (serious) question, but maybe that’s a language thing.
I do understand what you’re saying in your last message and I think we’re not very different when it comes to keep our Mudita’s clean and simple. But in some areas it lacks basic functionality. Personally I see no harm in filling these gaps, as long as I don’t turn it i to something close to a smartphone again.
BTW, those (numeric) pagers back in the 1980’s were awesome, I had a whole code system with my girlfriend a school to secretly communicate.
A possible workaround would be to use the notes app if you are writing a long detailed text and when you are happy with the construction, copy & paste it into a text window
