Clock — Community App Review
Version: 0.1.0

Clock is alarms, timers, a stopwatch and a world clock, laid out the way the Kompakt’s own Alarm app is: big times down the page, each with its days, its name and a switch, and a + to add one. Four tabs across the top: Alarm, Timer, Stopwatch, World.

Alarms, as many as you like. The time is typed on the number keys or stepped with the arrows, to the minute. Each has its days (or once), a name, a sound, and vibration on or off. The sound is the phone’s own alarm sound, any of its other alarm sounds, a sound file of your own, or none, to vibrate only. A repeating alarm can skip its next time, for a day off, without being switched off. Above the list: how long until the next one.

An alarm rings on the alarm volume, so a phone set to silent still rings, and it keeps ringing until it is answered, for up to 10 minutes (or 1, 5, 15 or 30). It can start quiet and grow. The round Snooze button snoozes for the length set in Settings; under it, 5, 15 and 30 minutes and 1 hour each snooze for that long.

Timers that ring: as many as you like, several at once, each kept with its length and name to start again. At zero it rings like an alarm, over the lock screen, until it is stopped or given a minute more.

A stopwatch with laps, which keeps counting with the app closed, and a world clock for the cities you choose.

If an alarm or a timer could not ring, because the app was stopped or the phone was off, Clock says so: which one, when, and why.

On the Kompakt, DuraSpeed shuts apps down a few minutes after the screen goes off, and an alarm app it has shut down rings late or not at all. People here who had late alarms from the stock app fixed them the same way. Clock’s settings open with two rows for it: one opens DuraSpeed’s list, where Clock is to be switched on, and one lets Clock ignore battery optimisation. Do both.

Other apps that set alarms or timers can use Clock: pick it, and Always, when Android asks. In inkOS, Clock can be the app the clock opens.

It has no internet permission.

I use Katapult and every time I think the underlying apps it gives me access to are good enough and I don’t need a replacement, you make an alternative that makes things just a bit better. Thank you for this app!

This looks great! The one thing stopping me from installing it is the lack of “alarm profiles”, like in the Samsung Clock app or “Alarm Clock for Heavy Sleepers” by “Smart Alarm Clock Team”.
This allows me to bulk skip/disable/enable alarms which is really useful, for example when switching from a day in office to home office.

Thank you, good idea, and it’s in now. Clock 0.2.0 puts alarms in groups: give each alarm a group name such as Office or Home, and the group gets one switch that turns all its alarms on or off together. “Skip next” skips the next ring of every repeating alarm in the group, for a day off.

Glad it fits now. Thank you for coming back to say so, and for the idea that got it there.

I have been using this app and it is great! I had a separate timer app, so I’m glad to have my alarm and timer app combined.

One thing I noticed with the stopwatch is that while the time shown from tapping start to stop is accurate, the time displayed in-between is slightly delayed. Before pressing start it shows a “0:00.00” format and after you press start it transitions to a “0:00” format. I’m wondering if the time it takes to make that format transition is what is accounting for the delay?

Also, this is a VERY minor request, so you can save it for the next big update if you want: I would love if I could make a more specific snooze time than the 5-minute intervals given. I am a weirdo and like to snooze for 8 minutes

Thank you, and you were right that something was off. It wasn’t the change of format: the running display was turning over on the phone clock’s seconds rather than the stopwatch’s own, so it could sit up to a second behind. Clock 0.2.1 counts from the moment you press Start, so the seconds turn when they should.

And 8 minutes is in too, along with any other length from 1 minute to 2 hours: Settings → Snooze → Other… at the end of the list.
