Camera Blurry After Update

Hi Urszula, Idk why your team said that but it’s not true, AOSP had DND mode and vibration controls for the whole system. Android is able to override any third-party vibrations, in app basis or as a whole.

Normally the Manage apps setting in Settings allows you to see all the settings per app basis, like control the notification settings, vibrations. In the mudita case, all of it was stripped. It only allows you to Open or Close app. Why is this called Manage Apps, if every “manage” feature was removed?

Some of those options are still there, I’m just forced to dig with other apps to find the hidden activities. But here where it becomes a problem. The 1st party (mudita) apps then don’t use standard vibration settings, so you can’t turn them off there and you’re forced to use adb commands for them specifically.

I know we can sound too demanding and harsh sometimes, but it’s almost always is due to features that exist in AOSP but have been remove for the sake of simplicity or who know why.

Out of curiosity I installed Open Camera from F-droid to see if there was any difference in photo quality compared to using MK’s native camera app. Breaking news: The difference is stark.

In this thread I’ve posted photos taken with the MK native camera app. So, I went back to recreate the same photos using Open Camera. I’ve tried to mirror the same positioning and lighting conditions as far as humanly possible for these photos.

I don’t think there’s any question that the photos taken with Open Camera are leagues better.

So, why is this?

My contention is that it comes down to a number of factors. The other photos posted on this thread, which do show serviceable photos, were taken in optimal conditions. There’s no substitute for really excellent natural light. Under those conditions, the MK camera app can take OK photos. But in the following instances, photos tend to come out blurred:

  1. Poor lighting conditions
  2. The subject makes focusing difficult: perhaps because it’s very cluttered/busy, or there’s a curvature of the subject onlines, or reflections which break up the outlines
  3. Poor contrast between objects in the frame

The auto stabilisation plays a significant role in this. The way the native app handles focusing in these conditions results in blurry photos.

I’m now using Open Camera. I’m afraid that means the only native apps I’m using are Phone and SMS.

My face expression right now, after looking at the pix:

Shocked Face

I’m going straight to the team with this.

Thank you for the feedback

This is the latest one:

Thanks but the latest is not always the best.
For example, for Park&Pay I had to choose an older one that was not an XAPK and without Google services.

Well the one I linked is not an xapk and is also open source. You can securely download from f-droid.

Was just an example.
But if our friend petermeister has a version that work good, better not taking risk, it’s enough complicated with the MK.

Tryed today Open Camera.
Much more responsive. The little noise help to know the photo is done. Didn’t see an improvement yet when using the zoom. Seems it’s hardware problem.
Would have preferred a fix focale length equivalent to 50mm in 24x36 then a bad zoom.

Did about 10 more pics with OpenCamera.
Find « the visor » a bit more clear and detailed and as said, the sound helps.
For the pics, they’re ok as soon as you don’t use the zoom.
Even with the phone lying on a stable surface, it’s blurry.

I also have found out, that my camera (mudita app) is way slower to focus and takes its time… BUT I have to say that persistence bug about the camera hanging up (developer options, privacy, camera access) is getting on my nerve. I missed a few precious moments because my camera simply did not work in time. Is there an update, once-and-for-all-fix coming?

DON’T TOGGLE OFFLINE+/ONLINE WEN THE PHONE IS LOCKED
and it should work nicely. It’s ok for me for months now.
I said this about 100 times now on this forum.

I know. And I do this. BUT this should not be a permanent “feature”. It is a bug. And it needs to be fixed. So I wrote it, as ANOTHER user that finds it annoying. Thanks for the ,again, repeated “Workaround”.

Your right, that’s a bug that have to be fixed.
But if we all claim in the same post, it is perhaps easier for Mudita to count how many are dissatisfied than with one post here, one post there.
Maybe.

It will be fixed on an update.
