The camera app on my mudita kompakt has stopped functioning only showing a white screen restarting has not fixed things
Never mind turning offline mode on then off fixed this but this might be related to my use of offline mode the night before
@hurron
If this happens, try this:
Go to System → Developer options → Privacy and toggle the “Camera access” radio button.
Hope this helps!
Here is a post with pictures to make it easier:
I have made date. Camera had worked once and now it’s crashing again.
« Interface app stopped working »
@shadock Let me ask the devs what’s happening.
Sounds like there is another app interfering with the stock camera app. Do you have any apps that use the camera? Try disabling the camera permissions for that app and then open the camera app again. It might work.
@shadock Yes, what apps have you sideloaded?
No other app as the standard appart Signal.
I’ve checked, Signal is not allowed to access Camera.
Glad to see this confirmed, I randomly discovered it too.
My camera app started crashing today and Ive followed the steps from the developer options. Got a message like ”System UI stopped working” and then it crashed and I got to the lock screen. When I unlock the same problem occurs since i still have the camera app open.
I feel that the phone got less reliable after the update and is considering a pause from use untill more updates are out and the phone is more reliable.
I would strongly suggest that the updates come more often and are smaller with important fixes (system stability, SMS, camera) taking priority over less important (chess, meditation, lock-screen symbol).
Edit: Im stuck in a loop now of unlocking the phone, camera app crashes and throws me back to the lock-screen before I can close the app, repeat. I cannot use the phone.
Edit 2: I restarted the phone and closed the camera app from the ”Manage Apps” but do not dare to open the camera app since it could restart the loop.
Are you using an SD card for storage? If you are, can you please confirm that it is still accessible on your device? For example, can you see it listed correctly in Settings > Storage, or can the Maps app access it or it crashes as well?
@cricke This seems a bit different than the previous use cases when the camera stopped working. I’m going to ask our team to take a look at this issue.
No card storage.
Today I re-tested the tip with the off-line button and it worked.
Fingers crossed.
Haven’t found out how to quote wen responding to a particular message.
This fixes it for a little while then it happens again. The Camera is basically unusable as I never know when opening it will cause everything to crash. This needs a standalone bug fix ASAP. This can’t wait until September.
On both our phones the Camera Access toggle keeps switching back randomly and causing the app to crash. And the phone somehow locks itself when the app crashes so it is very difficult to get out of the app at all without power cycling the phone.
The error says “System UI App stopped working”
Can confirm that my camera also stopped working. It happened some time ago, then worked again, and now it is unavailable at all, even after restarting the phone.
This is a big feature that’s not accessible… such simple things should not happen.
A tip for those stuck in the “loop”: try and unlock the phone then immediately press the mddle round button to try and go back to the homescreen. Eventually you will be locked out again, but unlocking will take you to the homescreeen and not the camera. Then you can close the camera app with the Settings app.
Edit: I tried the Developper options solution, and so far it worked.
I came here to say the same thing.
I have only sideloaded Gramophone to play music; however, things are so unreliable now that I had to buy a new phone (a Jelly Star shudder, but at least it’s small).
My Message app crashes many times a day and the camera app crashed once when I went to take a photo of my rent deposit for my landlord and send it to him. This problem directly affects my ability to live in my small cabin, as the landlord needs confirmation of the deposit.
I am highly disappointed and sad that I had to move onto another phone.
I also moved back to my old iPhone because of this. The crashing-loop made it feel very unreliable.
@andrewh I’ve escalated this topic and our team is working on it.
I’m sorry to hear that. Our team is working on it. We apologize for the inconvenience.
This is exactly what happened to my phone prior to the catastrophic issues that prevented me from accessing settings or many other stock apps, even after rebooting.
